Trying to WILD but its not working.

Well I have been attempting to WILD over the last two nights and struggling to make the final transition into my dream. I have no problems waking up in REM stages of my own accord. I normally go to sleep at 11:30 or so and then wake up at 5:30 without the aid of an alarm. I manage to stay completely still with my eyes shut very relaxed. Then the vibrations start and my body feels as though all the muscles are dead. Then the corners of my mouth feel as though they are turning down (don't know whether that is important).

The next stage is where I get stuck, so far I think I am doing it right. I attempt to visualise myself somewhere that I am familar with and enter the dream. But I can't, I have tried visualising myself rolling out of bed and into the dream but with no success. Shortly after, the vibrations die away. I normally get 3 good attempts with the vibrations before I can no longer do it. Then if I go back to sleep I can sometimes get another attempt when I wake up again but others I am too alert for it. I don't have very good dream recall, so I don't know whether I am waking up out of a dream when I try to WILD.

I have only been using this WILD technique for 2 nights though so it may be that I am getting the hang of it slowly. Anyway I thought I would check, because I couldn't find a clear answer to this question from any of the other posts here. I'm sure that others could benefit from an answer to this as well as a number of people seem to have a similar problem.

      Thanks anyway.

It sounda to me like you are trying too hard to complete the transition and that is keep you from falling asleep. Remember, you want to fall asleep...fall asleep consciously. Next time you get the vibrations, just relax and let the process do the work for you. Just lay there and do nothing more than keep conscious thought. It can be as simple as that. Allow any type of hallucinations you get (vibrations, imagery, etc) to just wash over you and do their thing. Give this a few tries and see how far you get.

PS: Instead of trying to get into the dream, expect/look forward to getting into your dream. Let all worries and anxiety release from yourself. Just relax and have fun with it. Good luck to you!

I have had terrible luck trying to push myself into dreams--just keep waiting and it will happen! In my WILDs, I get the vibrations, and then usually a minute or two later suddenly realize that one of my arms/legs has moved and I can feel it somewhere I know it's not... but this is not the dream, it's just part of the transition! I often wake up at this point but if I stay half-conscious I will actually get to the WILD. My advice is... just keep going! As long as you don't actually fall asleep, it's fine to keep waiting for quite a while!
