WILD Question
Hi,
I have read through multiple WILD tutorials, and I understand that you are supposed to have some sleep before hand, and wake up during or before an REM period. But how exactly do I get myself to wake up then? I can't really set an alarm, because I have no idea when I will be in REM.
Thanks,
Mike

5-6 hours never seem to work for me i would recommend 7 hours as you are definitely in REM in that period and are more likely to lucid dream hope it helps :)

Sleep is composed of a regular 90 minute cycle of five stages of sleep that repeats over and over throughout the night. The whole seven hour deal... I dunno because you end a cycle at the six-hour mark and when the seventh hour rolls around you may be in the stage just before REM.
In order to wake yourself up, there are two techniques:
- Drink plenty of water before you go to bed. Not so much that you pee yourself, but enough that it will wake you. It should bring you awake at one of these pivotal times.
- Autosuggestion: As you're headed to sleep repeat to yourself, "I will wake up after my dreams are over" or perhaps try giving it a set time, as in "I will wake up after 6 hours of sleep", although I'm not to sure about the second statement - depends on your inner clock.

I don't really know, as I have only gotten to SP twice, but then I have only tried to WILD 15 times. I got to SP at 4AM, and fell asleep around 11PM probably, so 5 hours. I woke up by myself at 4AM, I ALWAYS do. Every single night I wake up around 4, and I never remember any dreams when I wake up. So I checked my watch to see the time, and to make sure I didn't have a false awakening. I layed there for only a minute, and suddenly I felt wierd. I was on my side, so I didn't get the feeling of someone pushing down on my chest. I also was able to breathe easily. Then some pictures of scenes started floating by my mind's eye, and then a scene started to fade in around me. I forgot I was WILDing and entered into a regular non-lucid dream :P. Also, after 7-8 hours of sleep, your REM cycles are really close together. I had to get up by 8:45 AM this morning, and my alarm woke me up at 8:38. I had another alarm set to go off at 8:45, 7 minutes later. So I turned off my alarm, and then lay down, and I fell asleep instantly. I had a dream which seemed to last at least 20 minutes. A VERY odd one. Then my alarm woke me at at 8:45. So I guess an easy way to achieve lucidity is to set your alarm 20-30 minutes before you have to get up, tell yourself you will realize you are dreaming, and then let yourself fall asleep. I am lazy in the morning, so I can fall back asleep no problem. That is my little story.
Hope it helps!
