Question losing motivation when doing WBTB

      hey all

before i go to bed in the evening, when planning WBTB, i am very keen and enthusiastic.
but then when i wake up at 4am, i seem to have lost all the passion and motivation, and, more importantly, the focus and concentration.

thus i often give up the WILD attempt aftr 10 mins or so.

does anyone else have this problem?
how can i re-kindel that passion and motivation at 4am, as it seems to be my last roadblock.

      thanks all

When you say "give up" - do you mean you just turn over and go to sleep?

If so then maybe you should extend you WBTB time - sounds like you are too sleepy still.

TO be honest I use a lot of supplements and stimulants, it takes me over an hour to fall back to sleep as I normally have a good buzz on from nicotine patches and choline/galantamine. When I do fall asleep I go straight into a WILD easily as sleep comes on so slowly.

Im not advocating you go get a bunch of supplements. I do however think you should add 15 or more minutes to your WBTB time. Give your mind something to do also. Start off with relaxation exercises, autohypnosis techniques to relax your body and enter trance, repeat a manta to Lucid Dream, remind your self of your goals, try V-WILD. Just keep your mind focused and busy.

Before you fall asleep, run everything through your head. Imagine what you are going to do when you wake up. Your subconscious should absorb it, and you should remember it when you wake up.

Spend time just thinking about the things you would do in a lucid dream. You CAN do ANYTHING! There are no limitations as to what you can do in a lucid dream. That should be motivation enough.

If you are anything like me, performing a task right after waking from sleep, is never something I feel like doing. I like my sleep, lol. I suggest trying to sleep a little longer before performing your WBTB. Try sleeping until 5:00am or later. You will have more sleep under your belt and possibly be willing to try a bit longer. If you can't seem to find motivation with WBTB, I strongly suggest trying to WILD during the day time naps. Naps are my personal favorite time to WILD anyway. I would suggest napping 1-8 hours after waking from sleep. You can, of course, perform a WILD later in the day, but it may be more difficult the longer you wait.

I'm just like you and have the same problem. I'm no expert but what I generally try to do is "shock" myself out of sleep. This usually starts with jumping (literally jumping) out of bed. Then I turn the lights on and pace around my room. DON'T sit down, I fell into that trap once and you go straight back to sleep. If you're still tired by this point (remember you still have to be a little tired or you wont get back to sleep) go to the kitchen and grab a tiny snack (like one cookie or a bite of an apple). Food will wake you up instantaneously as your body associates it with being awake. From what I've heard the more ritualistic you can make getting up the better your body will get at handling it and the easier it will become to lucid dream on demand.
