Whenever I get Hypnogogic Hallucinations and focus on them they vanish

I'll see something like a beautiful scene of flowers of this reoccurring brown suited skeleton man and as soon as I focus on this image to see what It looks like it vanishes. Am i getting too excited when i look at them? How can I ignored them, by continuing to breath and just not putting any energy into my sight? It's pretty difficult =[

That is the last thing I would do- ignore them and focus on your breathing, I mean.

You are trying to WILD. You have probably started feeling sleep paralysis. You begin seeing hallucinations. You are two steps from your dream! Embrace the images and let them come. Don't try and hold onto OR dismiss them. It is just HH. Images will come and go.

But if you A. try and put energy into ignoring them or B. try and jump into the scene and stabalize the HH images you will probably screw up your WILD.

Instead, enjoy the funny pictures/colors and wait for that tugging feeling to 'pull you in' to your lucid dream. Once you are actually WILDing you can worry about getting too excited and stabalization.

      I agree with Spockman here.

Whenever I get those first images, I often see them in a sort of tunnel vision. If I focus too hard on them, they disappear. I think this may be because I am activating parts of my mind which are more active when awake, so it sets me back to "awake" mode.

My advice is to allow images to come and watch them passively. Don't try to focus on them, and don't ignore them. Imagine that you are riding in a car. You notice the scenery going by, you are aware of it, but you aren't looking at it directly.

What will happen next is the SP. After that, the images will become stronger without you having to focus on them. Remember to remain passive until you are overtaken by a dream. Once the dream begins, stabilize, and then focus on your surroundings.

      Good luck!

Gently focus your attention onto each image. Let your involvement in the dream take you into it. Be careful of too much attention and too little involvement. Don't forget you are dreaming now!

Haven't had a lucid dream in 3 years, and I'm looking to get back into it.

Those brief images are just the first stages of the dream. They are the preliminaries. The warm up. Keep doing what you are doing. Don't react to them, and don't worry if they slip away quickly. When it is time to enter a dream, you will know. It will be much more vivid and intense than those brief flashes.

Don't focous on them, in fact just ignore them and continue doing wild. Like Robot Butler said, you'll know when you can enter.
Don't get excited either because if you do it's game over.

Actually you cannot see these images with your real eyes but with the mind's eye..try to work on that...
