      Unhappy Losing hope ...

Sigh... sometimes I feel like lucid dreaming is impossible... I don't expect to have them every night... but it would be nice to have 1 maybe once in a while...

I've tried every technique there is, and nothing seems to work. I don't have consistent dream signs, every dream is random for me. I perform reality checks a lot throughout the day, and yes I put enthusiasm and feeling into it, but not once have I done one in a dream.

WILDS don't work either, I can't even get into sleep paralysis, not even the lucid timers work. I take too long to fall asleep and the timer is halfway done before I even feel drowsy. I could lay there for hours on end, and not even feel anything or get visuals, I have no problem ignoring the occasional itch, but nothing happens after that. When I don't think about lucid dreaming, I can fall asleep easily, but when I have it in my mind, especially when I'm attempting MILD, I can't fall asleep for shit.

      Seriously, what the fuck?
      Lucid dreams, gotta love em.

maybe you should try adjusting your wake back to bed times. try to get less sleep than you've been getting before the wake up so you'll be more tired during your next attempt.

Yes, I keep a dream journal. I wake up after every REM period (I assume) because I always remember a dream. I write down key words at night to help me recall in the morning, so I would say I write down about 4 or 5 dreams everyday.

just a few words of motivation: Keep at it - it may take some time, but never give up. You wake up in the morning and feel like having no progress at all, and its very demotivating - because you went to bed full of hope. Tell yourself that its ok to have missed out on a Lucid dream, but you are still making progress because you are slowly convincing your subconsciousnes to be able to have LD's.

Good luck and have a good read in Laberges book. Actually I don't need to tell you good luck - its all down to a bit of discipline and motivation - no luck involved (ok maybe some... )

You're the kind of people I get mad at. You're join date is Apr 2009 and you've had 12 LDs. I started trying to LD several months before I joined and I haven't even had one! I'm having the same exact problems as Elucive.

LaBerge's book is a really good read with a lot of interesting stuff in it. Not a lot of it helped me, because I'm not a big believer in the whole "Focus your mind on all these points to relax" kind of thing, and the WILD section didn't help much. Good read, though. xD

      hi!
      my god.
when I saw the title of the thread I thought "oh man, poor guy....I will see where I can help him"
but when I saw that you are in this since 1 week I thought "ohoh! ok!! ahaha"
      man
      you must be patient.
I'm working since 7 months, and no lucids, but that was because I was discovering my personal method.
it took me time, yes, but I found it. now I'm in it.
I see that you had those dreams of "dreaming of knowing you are dreaming"
well, yes, that happened to me a lot.
I recommend to you to do RC's with more awareness.
have you seen the tutorial of reality checks?
tell me how you keep going with this

      bye

Sorry I just had another last night, so my count has gone up

If it can make it easier for you, I must say that I tried to have Out-of-body-experiences without luck for more than a year before trying out Lucid Dreams. You don't need to do the "focus to relax"-bits unless you try to WILD before going to sleep, but you need to set your intention - and then be a bit disciplined about it - keep up the spirit - If you want to I can help you out, if you are interested in hearing about my "journey" to Lucid dreams. Do PM me

I never read the whole topic but I have something to ask/suggest.

Regarding reality checks, I'll give a piece of advice.
I've only been at it for a while, but sitting home on my computer, in my house, researching, talking on msn, etc etc, while doing many habitual and random reality checks didn't seem to be working for me, till I realised that I never DREAM about being in my home. I DREAM about being outside, or doing something, or living my daily life, not in a scenario where I'd EVER really be thinking abotu sleep or wanting to sleep, like I am at home.

So I started making reality checks and dreaming a main article of discussion whilst out and about with all of my friends, and they began to leak into my dreams more and more.
So try and pick a part of your life or a feeling you get from your dreams, and find that feeling in real life, and chose that as a location to do reality checks most often.
      good times
