      Unhappy Losing hope ...

Sigh... sometimes I feel like lucid dreaming is impossible... I don't expect to have them every night... but it would be nice to have 1 maybe once in a while...

I've tried every technique there is, and nothing seems to work. I don't have consistent dream signs, every dream is random for me. I perform reality checks a lot throughout the day, and yes I put enthusiasm and feeling into it, but not once have I done one in a dream.

WILDS don't work either, I can't even get into sleep paralysis, not even the lucid timers work. I take too long to fall asleep and the timer is halfway done before I even feel drowsy. I could lay there for hours on end, and not even feel anything or get visuals, I have no problem ignoring the occasional itch, but nothing happens after that. When I don't think about lucid dreaming, I can fall asleep easily, but when I have it in my mind, especially when I'm attempting MILD, I can't fall asleep for shit.

      Seriously, what the fuck?
      Lucid dreams, gotta love em.

maybe you should try adjusting your wake back to bed times. try to get less sleep than you've been getting before the wake up so you'll be more tired during your next attempt.

Well..there's not much I can say to help you...Most lucids just came naturally to me..I even had a WILD without really trying..But just keep at it and you will get it eventually..

Yes, I keep a dream journal. I wake up after every REM period (I assume) because I always remember a dream. I write down key words at night to help me recall in the morning, so I would say I write down about 4 or 5 dreams everyday.

About a week. But that's now, I first tried lucid dreaming two years ago, but then I stopped cuz school started. I just realized that if I wake up naturally, I should try DEILD.

a week is not nearly enough time. youve got to have patients. these things dont happen over night, in some cases they do but not in your case. youve just got to keep at it. ive been practicing for about 5 months and my last lucid dream was two months ago, but im not giving up im just sticking with it knowing that my hard work will pay off

I just had a semi-lucid like 2 hours ago ...I'll write down the details so maybe you guys can tell me if I was lucid or if I got mind-fucked by my own brain.

I woke up from a long nights sleep ...and I didn't recall any dreams. I guess because I left my journal blank for the last 2 days. This worried me, anyways I was still drowsy and I decided to sleep again ...I had a dream I was with my girlfriend in some apartment and we were eating ...everything looked dumb, anyways I remember my stomach hurt and she asked me if I was ok, and my exact response was, "I don't know ...I think it hurts more because I'm dreaming". Lol I don't remember if saying this made me lucid, or if I already was. Anyways I looked around thinking, "wow I'm dreaming" ...and then this HOT chick walks into a room, and I got the urge to follow her. But then I stood there thinking, "What if this isn't a dream, my girlfriend is gonna kick my ass", but regardless I went into the room, and talked to the girl, the dream quickly faded and I woke up in bed, I remembered about DEILD so I layed completely still but nothing happened, I guess cuz I was too alert, or maybe my REM period was done.

So yeaaa ..I'm kinda happy ..cuz of the random lucid (maybe) ..but sorta angry cuz the DEILD didn't work.

Here is the thing, even though you said "I don't remember... I think it hurts more because I'm dreaming", you could still say that line and not REALIZE that you are in a actual dream. Enless it dawns on you "110 percent" that HOLY COW I am dreaming, then you pretty much are just dreaming, about lucid dreaming.

It's happened to me, and it's happened to many other people. That is just my opinion on the matter, but for sure get someone else's because they may say different

I see what you're saying. Funny thing is how I always get some type of progress when I decide, "Screw it, I'm not trying anything today."

What bugs me the most is how the DEILD failed, I stayed still ..didn't move, not even my eyes. I just purchased "Exploring the world of lucid dreaming" so maybe that can fill in some gaps on the techniques I've been messing up, especially MILD.

Nevertheless, dreaming of lucid dreaming is progress in my eyes, so I'm kinda happy, lol.

Yah for sure, if you can get yourself to notice that your dreaming about lucid dreaming--and do a RC after noticing that fact--you will be good on that end.

Exploring The World Of Lucid Dreaming is an excellent book, I have a copy myself and am re-reading it again. I've read it a couple times already, but I just like to refresh my memory of the book..

      Good Luck to You!!!

just a few words of motivation: Keep at it - it may take some time, but never give up. You wake up in the morning and feel like having no progress at all, and its very demotivating - because you went to bed full of hope. Tell yourself that its ok to have missed out on a Lucid dream, but you are still making progress because you are slowly convincing your subconsciousnes to be able to have LD's.

Good luck and have a good read in Laberges book. Actually I don't need to tell you good luck - its all down to a bit of discipline and motivation - no luck involved (ok maybe some... )

You're the kind of people I get mad at. You're join date is Apr 2009 and you've had 12 LDs. I started trying to LD several months before I joined and I haven't even had one! I'm having the same exact problems as Elucive.

LaBerge's book is a really good read with a lot of interesting stuff in it. Not a lot of it helped me, because I'm not a big believer in the whole "Focus your mind on all these points to relax" kind of thing, and the WILD section didn't help much. Good read, though. xD

      hi!
      my god.
when I saw the title of the thread I thought "oh man, poor guy....I will see where I can help him"
but when I saw that you are in this since 1 week I thought "ohoh! ok!! ahaha"
      man
      you must be patient.
I'm working since 7 months, and no lucids, but that was because I was discovering my personal method.
it took me time, yes, but I found it. now I'm in it.
I see that you had those dreams of "dreaming of knowing you are dreaming"
well, yes, that happened to me a lot.
I recommend to you to do RC's with more awareness.
have you seen the tutorial of reality checks?
tell me how you keep going with this

      bye

Sorry I just had another last night, so my count has gone up

If it can make it easier for you, I must say that I tried to have Out-of-body-experiences without luck for more than a year before trying out Lucid Dreams. You don't need to do the "focus to relax"-bits unless you try to WILD before going to sleep, but you need to set your intention - and then be a bit disciplined about it - keep up the spirit - If you want to I can help you out, if you are interested in hearing about my "journey" to Lucid dreams. Do PM me

I never read the whole topic but I have something to ask/suggest.

Regarding reality checks, I'll give a piece of advice.
I've only been at it for a while, but sitting home on my computer, in my house, researching, talking on msn, etc etc, while doing many habitual and random reality checks didn't seem to be working for me, till I realised that I never DREAM about being in my home. I DREAM about being outside, or doing something, or living my daily life, not in a scenario where I'd EVER really be thinking abotu sleep or wanting to sleep, like I am at home.

So I started making reality checks and dreaming a main article of discussion whilst out and about with all of my friends, and they began to leak into my dreams more and more.
So try and pick a part of your life or a feeling you get from your dreams, and find that feeling in real life, and chose that as a location to do reality checks most often.
      good times
