When I attempt WILDs and have been still for a while my breathing suddenly stalls, then becomes very slow with less air intake. Shortly after my heart rate increases. Is this normal? :?

Yes. Read some more threads and you will see that problems with heart rate and breathing are very very common when it comes to SP/WILDing. Whether this is due to excitement when you reach some point in the process (like, you start experiencing HH) or is actually just a hallucination resulting from successful entry into SP, or due to some other reason depends on the person and situation.
If it bothers you or distracts you, try bringing your attention away from your body. Either focus on some hypnagogic imagery and dreamlets, or visualize a scene of your own chosing. Obviously it can be a little counterproductive if you're focusing on your breath for your WILD, and your breathing starts wigging out.
Oh man, I totally had that. I was laying in my bed doing what I think is yogic breathing. In anycase, it was hella relaxing. Next thing I know, I'm in sitting at my computer in my room at night with the lights off. and I'm staring at this website, but it's very white and I can't make out any details. Then I hear this bang sound, like someone hitting a calf-skin drum. just "bang", and I become lucid, but in that instant, I gasped for air in my dream and it evaporated and I was breathing as if i had just held my breath for a long ass time when I entered the waking world.
hahah seems like every time i'm up late, 3 or 4 am on this site i get lucid dreams lol
Thanks, I wasn't sure before so I actually ended up opening my eyes and killing the WILD...silly me :P
oh, also, I sometimes feel my leg and arm muscles start twitching after a bit?
Ya, my legs twitch when attempting WILD, too. Try to ignore it as best you can and try to pretend it didn't happen.

Woops, Sorry D:
