Hey, I have the exact same problem as you (even the part of only getting to the vibrations once). Many experienced WILDers that I've talked to say that vibrations aren't necessary fo a successful WILD. As a matter of fact, they say that vibrations are relatively rare.
I also have the problem of getting tired of laying on my back with nothing happening. Luckily, this thread has really helped me out. http://www.dreamviews.com/community/...ad.php?t=61525
After using this for a bit I've seen a lot of improvement. You might want to try using it with V-WILD, especially since to much active anticipation can really ruin a WILD attempt (well, at least in my experiences it does). Hope this helps, and good luck!

You could also try to WILD after you wake at nighttime. Ive never been able to WILD when I go to sleep in the evening either, but done it often at night when I woke shortly. This because your body is already in a sleep-mode at nighttime, which makes falling asleep consciously much easier.

There are two things you can do to help you stay awake.
      1. Get REALLY excited about having a lucid dream. Really plan out exactly what you want to do and try to feel the emotions that go along with your dream.
      2. When you use WBTB, try staying up for a little longer. Or try using a variation of V-WILD that may not be as boring as counting or controlling your breathing.

      Hallo inhuman.

If I might help a little, i would suggest, that you take WILD as a fully natural process, with one exception. You are observing it. But that would not be as much of a problem, if you could not alter, what happens in a process. But as a consciousness, you have nearly full control over whats happening. Transition processes are inherently constructed to be performed unconsciously. They are simply something what goes automatically and should not be altered in any way. Passivity is the key to successful traditional wilding.

Now let me elaborate a little. Why the hell, there are techniques which use some form of visualisation to enter WILD? Simply becouse they are here to distract conscious mind from transition processes. Its only natural, that You want to do something meanwhile and therefore you usually do something. The key is doing only things, that dont affect transition processes themselves. Eighther you construct some kind of reality, where your consciousness may reside, or you just simply minimize yourself into kind of space from which you just observe, whats going on outside.

The more you are active in this process, the higher the probability you will disturb transition processes. This minimization often causes that you blackout, becouse you are simply point of consciousness against big, awakening force of subconsciousness.

It was only good, that you fell asleep. Becouse that indicates, that you are able to let go. The key is to anchor yourself within this everchanging space, your subconsciousness projects. To achieve the anchor just learn, how to simply BE. Not doing anything at all. Just simply learn to BE.

When can you learn it? You are already learning it by practicing WILD. Believe me or not. Even if you wont achieve any WILD in short time, there are other benefits you get from this.

SIMPLE BEING = RELAXING = LETTING GO = SUCCESSFULL WILD

      Hope it helps.

usually I WBTB after about 4 to 4.5 hours of sleep, however I usually change it up a lot depending on when I have to get up the next day (I usually like to have a buffer period from when I go back to sleep to when I have to get up in the morning).

For how long I stay awake during my WBTB that also varies. I usually don't have a set time, because then the success of my WBTB depends on whether or not I'm able to stay up for the whole hour. Generally I play it by ear after I wake up to do the WBTB. If I find that I'm able to wake myself up fairly quickly, I'll usually only stay awake for about five or ten minutes. However, if I find that I'm still really groggy then I'll stay up for longer. I just find that as long as I don't wake myself up too much then I'm good.
