      My WILD attempt log

I’ve decided to keep a log of WILD attempts on DV in the hope that it might:
      - encourage others who haven’t attempted it to try it and keep a detailed log too
      - to receive feed back on my attempts or comments
      - encourage me to stick to the practice of it
      - so I can see the process refining over time.

      WILD ATTEMPT NO. 3
      Wednesday 13th July

-Went to bed allowed the body to settle and observed this.

      - following “ wild way to dream” book I would occasionally do a 4-6-8 breath to encourage the body to relax and imagined the tension being released into the earth that’s supporting me. Then let the breath find its natural rhythm for a while - repeated this for a while and began to feel the body becoming heavy and sinking into the mattress.

      - kept eyes closed and looked straight forward observing the HI as it flowed and tried not to follow the patterns with my eyes or get excited about what I saw.

      - tried to have a sense of I already have lucidity with me I’m just waiting for HI bus to take me to the dream.

      - fell asleep . However I almost notice a DC as a potential dream sign

      WILD ATTEMPT NO.5
      Sunday 31st July
      Lucid: yes - DILD
WILD attempt from initial bed time
At 21:00 went to bed with the intention to observe the whole process of falling asleep.

My son woke me up at 2240 with his crying,
I felt like I had been awake the whole time, but I wonder if I had just been conscious the whole time
      - I decide to let go of my efforts as it’s late and have work in the morning
      - 25 minutes later I wake up after having a lucid dream (DILD)

      WILD ATTEMPT NO.6
      Thursday August the 4th
      Bed: 2030
      Estimated sleep:2100
      WBTB: 0250

Got up used toilet logged dreams on phone recited 2xtable and some memory info

Got back into bed got comfortable moved when I had to, initially I was watching the back of my eye lids, then I also started to count my breaths, but this felt like it was keeping me awake.

So I focus on relaxing the body observed it getting heavier
Every so often did a 5second in and out breath observed how body relaxes even more.

      - very short lucid but it soon collapsed : - it started as if someone had turned a dimmer switch up the brightness steadily increased and I was in my room but a piece of furniture was not right after a nose pinch I realised I was lucid the dream begins to collapse so I rub the floor and walls but the dream fades.

      WILD ATTEMPT NO.8
      Nap 1115-1215
      Lucid: No

Darkened the room, got in to bed laid on my back for a while, when I felt more relaxed I moved onto my side and observed the body getting heavier and more relaxed.

Then I begin observing HI this time I saw more than streaks of colour - fell asleep could recall no dreams afterwards.

      WILD ATTEMPT NO.9
      Friday 26th August
      Bed: 21:00
      Sleep est: 22:15
      Awake :0400 by son crying
      0600

Lucid: yes - first full WILD

Woke at 4am by my son crying
      Followed the usual protocol
      - used the toilet
      - once back in bed body scan
      - occasional deep inhale And exhalation imagined tension releasing flowing down through the bed and into the earth.
      - when I was uncomfortable I moved ( you can’t WILD if your not asleep, you won’t get to sleep if not comfortable)

      - Observed HI and waited for detailed images before focusing on specific aspects

      - Used mantra when I felt I was falling asleep to help me straddle the things line of not being sleep but not to awake: “I walk the line, am I dreaming?”

Lucid dream materialised for a short while then collapsed I waited and another one, it came and I engaged in the dream but this too eventually collapsed.

      WILD ATTEMPT NO.11 - what a tease!

      Sunday 4th September
      Bed: 20:20
      Sleep est: 2120
      Awake: 0152, 0330 - 0400, 0500
      Lucid yes -WILD

0330 My son wakes crying but settles himself I decide to observe HI as I return to sleep,
I watch images become more stable and just as a dream forms my son begins to cry I hear him but I’m trying to focus on my dream he stops crying and the dream stabilises but it’s short lived I wait for another one it’s almost ready for me when my son starts to cry again I’m trying stay focused on the dream knowing my son will stop crying soon, but not soon enough the dream collapses , I attend to my son who stops crying just before I get to his room .

      WILD ATTEMPT NO.13
      Saturday 22nd October night time

      Bed:2050
      Sleep est:2120
      WBTB: 0245
      Awake: 0500
Lucid: No but dreams were very vivid.

      Followed the usual protocol
      - got up used the toilet back to bed
      - relaxed body with body scan
      - felt the body get heavier and a bit numb however last night was the first night Ive felt the chest become heavy was a little uncomfortable but i reminded myself this may be part of sleep paralysis.
      - HI is beginning to flow, some images hang around a little longer so I start to examine them a bit more ,I begin to get excited so I do mindfulness of breathing meditation to calm the mind while watching HI
      - felt like I had been attempting this for a while and wanted to avoid insomnia so I let go of effort , but a little to much and eventually fell asleep.

      **Some reflections and notes**
      - Found it hard to keep my eyes from trying to follow the patterns and imagery
Sometimes the faces flashed in front of my vision and I had to stop myself from opening my eyes.

      - should have used a mantra periodically “walk the line, am I dreaming” when I felt the pull of sleep.

      - did I jump to early with focusing on smaller details of images
      - would the thought of 80% sleep 20% effort help maintain the right Balance and approach.

      - do I just need to be more patient and trust in the method?

I had times during the day time nap and night time attempt where I felt unsure if I was dreaming or watching HI
