OBE entry verses dropping into the dream

      Hello,

Not a regular user but would like to come here more and so happy to find this thread dedicated to WILD.

Briefly: been practicing wild for 2 years, been successful, my very favourite way to lucid dream. First time I did it was after reading an excersise in Charlie Morley's book Dreams of Awakening, I used the Hypnogogic drop in and it was amazing. Kept using the same exercise for about 6 months until one night I rolled over and then experienced an OBE entry.

This has now become my habitual entry. I created my way of using my perceived bedroom window as my dream portal, and then will build the dream from there. But sometimes it is tricky to get out of the illusion of my immediate surroundings.

I now don't seem to be able to enter any other way then perceived OBE. I do this round twice a week.

Even if I stay on my back, don't roll and build HH I will still always end up in my dream bed, RC'ing, and 'getting up' out of my dream bed (accompanied by the usual sensations, sometimes have been v strong) and starting my lucid dream from the last place I remember. It's ok because I build my dream from there. But I miss experiencing that feeling of entering a dream directly (I mean I know I am entering a dream directly, but how to let go of the illusion of my physical remembered surroundings.)

I have come across ideas that might suggest what I experience is more akin to experiencing the astral body - but...hmmm...I am a bit sceptical about that I don't want to get tied up in more illusive ideas that might create more habitual structures in my practice...

I guess Im looking for more ways to be creative, and to see how this very fine conscious entry point is for others regular Wild'ers. Does anyone else experience OBE entries? Does your entry point depend on what system you use?

      Thank you for reading!!

I find it hard to imagine to do a drop-out OBE-style because i've personally never experienced much like that. Have you tried doing a DEILD? I should probably zip up because I don't LD very well. I did do a WBTB and spent 20 minutes eating a muffin when I went to sleep there was a dream scene in the back of my mind that has developed on it's own accord and I spinned a little and wound up feeling and using my arms in legs in a wintery forest-area just after the dream scene began to be zoomed in on and within seconds winded up envelopping my consciousness.

Hi hehe did you mean you were pre-dreaming or dreaming about eating an muffin or you were actually eating one? A like the idea of a new kind of MILD (Mufin Induced Lucid Dream lol) Wow sounds like you had a really deep exciting experience following the eating of the muffin ritual, even though brief!

And yes I do DEILD, some times (not so often though) multiple times...say if I am doing an experiment...will wake briefly and stay still and re-enter (so I can remember, or if I wake accidently)...a- ha- thank you yes when I do this I go direct back to the dream....I do ... so glad you did not zip up...I mean it is the dream already created but changes naturally occur...so yes it is only when I am doing the initial entry that I perceive myself OBE.

There's a slight blank-ness usually when u enter a deild or wild, as you fall asleep.
I suppose that you literally don't have this in OBE-style. Have you tried staying in ur room and treating it as a dream?

I hope someone with experience , albeit OBEs are rare. Chimes in.

Well I am just on WBTB right now and I regret to say I have no muffin. I do have a hot chocolate though. But really I want a muffin.

Oh ok yes I think there can be, in the past I might even think I have fallen asleep for a brief moment...before becoming aware of sensations...maybe that is a moment of blankness...and yes I believe that still makes it a wild having this slight pause if it happens...but yeh generally I trace each moment and probs why sensations got v strong

Well the thing is I find it hard to let go of the perceived reality of my surroundings...yeh maybe I wil try just staying in my room now and see what happens..if I wild.

Yes there are some great books and info, but you can't say 'yeh but what when...and if and how etc ect?' and have a conversation about the variables and intricacies.

Hey good luck with your ongoing practice...keep thinking positive and get excited too as i think those butterflies in the belly about the possibilities of the night were are really helpful to me when learning...i still even have butterflies now....which need balancing with a meditation....noticing sensations...way before the crossover... the night is delicious...like a big muffin! Enjoy!! And thank you for your thoughtful imput.

Actually, just to add..i also have had multiple OBE entries in the night too (and the last time was so overwhelming I wondered if experiencing all those sensations time after time was ok for my body, so I stopped it!) Sensations are not so intense atm. But that has only happened when I have not been focussing on one lucid dream in particular and have just held the intention to lucid dream. And it has not happened often. So in fact it was not even through a conscious WILD, although having the experience means I am lucid. Really, I have no idea what those experiences are about. I could not find a label. There are so many variables to explore. Sometimes OBE from within a dream too, which makes me lucid...so like a DILD but in OBE form. I DILD normally too though. By way of RC. Or just realising.
