      Was this a WILD ?

Most of my LDs are DILDs and spontaneous situations where just become aware. However last night, ( after a 6 day dry spell – geezz) It was my 2nd wake up after my 4 hour core sleep cycle. It was at the end of a long eventful NLD and i was walking on a park sidewalk and awoke. I knew it was not a FA because I could not even get my dream hand up for a RC. I laid perfectly still and didn’t open my eyes while recalling myself on the sidewalk. I then visualized stepping on to the grass and then instantly went lucid ( no RC was needed). This process only lasted 20-30 seconds and was super simple. Nothing special about the LD, but it is the first time I went straight from waking to LD. I remember reading on DV somewhere of the technique of waking up and not moving or opening eyes and going LD and I thinking it’s a form of WILD. I may have got lucky and hit my REM cycle just right, but will definitely try this again. It is a bit off topic, but below is what happen in the LD if y’all are interested.

The grass went from brown to dark green as I started walking around taking in the scenery which was similar to the NLD I was just in. Instead of stabilizing I decided to ask a DC I came across to help me stabilize. She was not much help and I moved on interacting ( non-sexually) with other DCs. I approached a female DC and asked her to help me find a dream guide. She then asked me how much I was willing to pay. I told her $1200 for 30 minutes, and she perked up and said “ shit, for that amount you’ll get more than a dream guide” At this point her face changed from normal to very attractive and the eye contact was amazing. This is where I lost my interest in a dream guide and fell off the LD wagon.

Sounded like a DEILD to me. So when you woke up from your dream you didn't move or open your eyes? If so that was a DEILD

This unequivocally points to it being a "WILD". Keep in mind, there are only two approaches to lucid dreaming: realization from within a dream and transition from a waking state. Seems to me like you pulled off the latter, which is indeed more colloquially called a WILD (Wake Initiated Lucid Dream).

And as sparkley pointed out, your experience seems to fit a subclass of WILD often called "DEILD" (Dream Exit Initiated Lucid Dream). But that important thing is that you had a lucid. Try to learn from the experience itself, not by labeling it, but by understanding how you achieved it in the first place. ^_^

Thanks sparkley and Mzzkc, Y'all are exactly right. It was a DEILD and is now another tool in the LD quiver ! I tried it out the next night but didn’t remember to stay still ( apparently that is the key). However last night I woke after 4-5 hours and went to the bathroom. I then laid back down and attempted a SSILD and was successful, but at a low level of awareness. After about 5 min LD, the dream faded and I awoke. Remembering to stay perfectly still and not opening my eyes I re-entered the same scene but with a much higher level of awareness. This LD lasted about 10-15 min and I was able to stabilize and test out some other stuff i have been meaning to do. When I awoke from this one, I forgot to stay still and got too alert, but i did however have 2 very vivid DILDs. I keep a DJ on my iPhone, but Im going to post last nights LDs in my DV DJ as it was one of the best nights( quality wise) in about a year.
