Just like in meditation things like thoughts and bodily sensations will distract you and even you will distract yourself and it's only when you stop trying and just let your mind go that you will find inner peace and tranquility.
So it's not a process, just let go. Don't pay attention to anything in particular. Just be awake.
It's the same for the WILD. If you lay there looking for strange things or try to do something to get there faster, you will hold yourself back becaue you will not relax your mind and body completely.
It's not possible in words to describe how this is done, but my best advice would probably be to try out meditation.
And meditaiton is simply the act of doing nothing! Which is a concept that is difficult to understand for our busy minds.
But this is what I do, I sit in a somewhat quiet place and then I just stare into the wall, I then start to focus on my breathing. I can control my breaths or just observe the natural breathing it doesn't matter. The idea is to just sit there and do nothing. At first the thoughts will distract you with things like "Why am I doing this, this is stupid", "I wonder if that girl likes me ...", "Hmm I need to swallow saliva and my back hurts..". When this happens just go back to your breathing.
After a few minutes 10-15 min you will feel a shift, and you will feel more calm and oddl enough feel like you don't even want to leave or stop the meditation.
Sometimes, (not allways) this shift will be so powerful that you get a shock and you get incredibly happy and everything seems clear.
I can't describe this feeling but probably it's a natural high that you are not used to feel because your brain is used to stress.
When this happens you know that you have let go completely.
Then you can use this ability of doing nothing in order to WILD.
Because when your mind is filled with nothing, it has to be filled with something else. DREAMS!
Good luck
