What did I experience and how do I move past it?

Ok so, I tried yet another attempt at WILD this night.

I would lay down and relax. after a while my body starts to feel numb and I get vibrations. like my eyes start twitching and moving around and my face starts to twitch as well.

Normally, at around this stage my eyes would try to open and I would force them closed, and when doing that the vibrations would end and I would be awake.

BUT, this time I just let them go open. I saw my room a bit, and some light from outside. My eyes kept on moving and I kept feeling numb, but with my eyes open. Then suddenly they would flip back closed and the vibrations would get stronger.

After a while a calm feeling comes over me and I feel super relaxed and light.

THen after a while another Vibration episode comes and my eyes open and close again at random.

then yet another calm state. and then again vibrations. and last time my eyes more like flipped open very fast. and I laid there seeing my room. I was pretty sure I was Awake, but I did a RC to confirm and sadly I was just awake.

So... Anyone else have ever experienced this. Or know how to go from this point on towards a lucid dream? I tried imagining a scene , even one which is very familiar. nothing really happened. or did I quit to quickly?

Very interesting. I have only made it to the point of twitching and numbness, and i've never had my face twitch. I too would like to know ho to progress from there. My eyes have opened automatically, but i would just force them closed. and fail the technique.

Just relax more- do not worry about your eyes. Simply observe that they open- if they do. Remember that you don't need to see to be aware. I find that when I am looking for HI- my eyes also twitch open. But HI is not seen by the eyes- it's seen by the mind. So is a dream. Just remain calm and keep at it, you'll get there. Trust me.

So to conclude, just focus on the HI no matter what your body does?
      (HI = Hypnagogic Imagery?)

well that's the right idea but you don't even have to try that hard. don't even bother focusing on it. just be aware of it. I recommend a little meditation so that you better define the difference between focus and awareness

I think the problem is with me being too awake at the time of trying my WILD. it's mostly in the morning after I wake up naturally. maybe I should get up some time earlier and try then. but when I try it when really tired I have to try really hard to not just fall asleep.
