      Question Discomfort/ pain induced WILD?

Would attempting a WILD in a very uncomfortable state help increase my chances of lucid dreaming?

      iv'e already tried

      - mp3 binural beats both loud and quiet during a WILD and WBTB

      - flat on my back arms at side

      - flat on stomach

      - sitting in a chair

      - with sleeping pills (nytol)

      - lying down in bed with knees pointing up to the sky so my ankles touch my butt

      - i've tried tying my arm to the head of my bed hoping the discomfort would help LD (it didn't)

      - i've tried staying on my side.

      - Also tyng up my arms together

      - also complete blackness in the room in sleeping in

In all these cases (even with WBTB i still fall asleep without WILD) I actually created a data chart to record all my attempts and LDs and the only time i have any success was when i was lying down in ridiculously uncomfortable position. but i can't replicate that position at home. Based on the data i gathered on my self i have come to the firm conclusion that it is impossible for me to achieve wake induced lucid dream when i am comfortable (as what you read has shown) I always get to hypnogogia imagery though, but never past that

I also read a thread on here of a girl (boy?) who went camping i think, and it was only when she was in a very uncomfortable position due to i think, her fried kicking or leaning into her inside a tent; that she suddenly experienced a WILD accidentally.

Unfortunately i can't remember where i read this one either but basically a bloke would lie on his stomach with his elbows under his stomach and his fists just below his cheek bones (i assume his face was resting on his fists and his nose would be pushing into his bed) and he would basically use this technique to induce lucid dreams.

In my test table i've named this position the bored gargoyle. I've attempted it twice but i always turn over when i get the "roll over signal"/ that discomfort many people experience just before a person falls into sleep paralysis. i.e. that feeling of discomfort that causes insomniacs to "toss and turn" i believe.

Anyway my question is does anyone believe that discomfort/ extreme discomfort is a useful anchor to help guarantee or at least increase the chances of experience a WILD? especially for people like me who have tried and tested many different "comfortable" methods.

If you have not read our tutorials yet, I would recommend to start with that.

      Induction Methods and Techniques
      WILD

But even before that, if you never had a LD before, we usually recommend to start with DILD and have a few DILD, before moving on to WILD.

Sleeping postition should be comfortable, so you can fall asleep, since that is the ultimate goal. At the same time, you have to keep your mind awake and that is accomplished with mantras. If you pick an uncomfortable position, and your WILDing takes for a while, you will be very uncomfortable and it will make it hard for you to fall asleep.

Good luck and please ask if there is anything else.
