I am very curious myself on how to stop this. I have this problem every time and am never able to complete it due to the problem. |

So I honestly don't attempt wild too much and have never had one. |

Try a different sleeping position, maybe on your side. Also, you're probably not putting enough pressure on your eyelids, put a light amount of pressure just enough to close. |

Our eyes may start moving as we falling asleep, even before REM period. They don't do Rapid eye movement, they just move around a bit. This is what you perhaps experienced? |

N1 is the first stage of NREM sleep. That's when we are just falling asleep. We are technically already asleep, but if someone wakes us up at this moment, we would swear we were not asleep yet. |

I think I had a similar problem (and still do to some degree) it never used to happen, but then started all of a sudden. It plagued any attempt to visualise, or focus, or meditate, and no one seemed to have any answers. I don't think mine was the N1 as gab says, just from the fact that it happened at any point in the day when I tried to focus on my heartbeat or breathing. My solution was as London says above, if on my back, just turning my head to one side, it worked very well (I think lying on my side stopped it almost completely) but apart from that I think you're just not closing your eyes properly, try a little more pressure, though no too much, and see |
