boy, do I have some good news for you!
1. You were doing it! The falling backwards feeling is one of the many possible sensations you can get. (And my personal favorite.)
2. You may feel vibrations, or fallling, or floating, or turning, or being twisted in a pretzel, or just about anything. Or, you may not get any of these.
3. You may see images, or you may not.
4. You may hear things, or you may not.
5. You may see, hear, feel, something today, and next attempt may be totally different.
6. You may swallow, scratch, or even change position. If you do it slowly, without paying attention to it, just as you would when falling asleep normally, it will not harm your attempt.
I had to look up CAN WILD. So, it is DEILD. If you move, you most likely get out of REM and DEILD may not be successfull. So you were right to try for a WILD. But WILD works best, is you do WBTB. Get up for a few minutes to wake your mind up enough, so it doesn't fall asleep during your attempt.
DEILD is a wonderful technique that gave me many LDs. But I can pull it off only from a lucid dream. Theoretically, it should work from any dream, I just wasn't able to do it so far.
I would suggest this DEILD (dutchraptor) tutorial.
But, basis of DEILD is a WILD. Best one is WILD (sageous) tutorial. After reading it, you will be familiar with all parts of WILDing process and it will make WILDs and DEILDs easier.
