Help with failed WILD attempts! What am I doing wrong?

So I've been trying to Lucid dream for the longest time, and I feel a WILD is my only hope into achieving it. So here's my problem and keep in mind I have read dozens of WILD articles on this site as well as others so I have the basic knowledge of it, however I am definitely open to corrections and suggestions:

The other night I went to bed and woke up about five and a half to six hours later to begin my WILD attempt. I was awake and laid completely still for about 40 minutes. I had trouble with the swallowing reflex but finally got it under control. Anyways my body felt heavy but I know I was not in sleep paralysis. However suddenly a bright light shown and I started rushing up towards it (usually a sign you're entering a dream right?) As I came close to the light it was like my eyelids dissolved and I can see the ceiling of my room. My first thought was I just had a false awakening. So I did a reality check. I was awake. This really pissed me off and the heaviness of my body was still there. My back was hurting from staying in the same spot for so long so I moved to my side. It was like glass was surrounding my limbs and it shattered when I moved. Not painful just felt like I broke something surrounding my limbs. Being that I was able to move I obviously was not paralyzed. (this has been the closest I've been ever)

This morning I tried the same thing but woke up earlier. This time I got out of bed to go to the bathroom. I laid completely still with no swallowing reflexes or anything. I even tried the counting technique by going "1..2..3.. I'm dreaming" and so on. I NEVER even got close to sleep paralysis. Eventually my ass got sore from staying in the same spot for over an hour (about an hour and twenty minutes). I gave up again and had a hard time going back to sleep, because my brain wouldn't stop counting.

The stop drop and roll method does not work for me for some reason, I can fall asleep with my hands over my head lol! So what am I doing wrong? Most importantly: how can I get into sleep paralysis? Is there more to it than just not moving anything and keeping a clear mind? I've never gotten past the step of getting into sleep paralysis and I am getting pretty frustrated...

You don't need to go into sleep paralysis to WILD, in fact, you most likely will not be able to, it's impossible to induce it unless you have disorder with same name. To enter WILD, you just need to fall asleep while being aware, you don't even really need to stay still, just fall asleep like you normally do, but be aware of it, there's a nice tutorial that explains the process in detail, check it out WILD :poof:

I just did some reading of the guides provided on someone's posts of the correct ways to WILD. I had no idea SP was not necessary! I was too focused this whole time on my body because most tutorials say to do so. I'm going to give this new approach a shot! Thank you
