Hey there.

I've been trying WILD for some weeks now, and last night i experienced something odd.

First some background story:

I recently began to sleep 9 hours a night in hope of better dream recall and as such found myself well rested, even after a hard day at work. But some days i just crash HARD when i get home and sometimes i sleep 4-5 hours if i am not woken up during this "nap", so as you can probably guess, i am having trouble sleeping at night on these days.

This was the case last night.
As i went to sleep i thought i should practice WILD, and after an hour of lying completely still, i gave up, checked my watch, rolled over, and went to sleep.
However, i did not fall asleep and after 30 mins i felt the sensations (if you know what i mean) crawling up on me. Shortly thereafter i began seeing scenes EXTREMELY vividly, and the only way i can describe it is if you imagine standing in front of a portal only putting your face inside, leaving your body out. So seeing it from your own perspective, but unable to enter and still feeling you physical body.

The thing is, i was lying like this for 3 hours, not feeling ANY tiredness at all, and still able to hear anything happening in the house (father snoring, drinking water, brother playing games downstairs with a friend etc.)

So, to sum it up.

  • What i experienced was purely visual

  • I could hear anything and i didn't lose consciousness

  • I could alter and manipulate the scene just by thinking it

  • It was like watching a lucid dream from a stationary position

  • I could cancel the process anytime i wanted to by moving, as i did after 3 hours

So, can anyone clarify if i am doing it right or wrong? Do i need to engage the imagery in a different way? More or less sleep? etc?

I felt like i wasn't making any progress using WILD, but after this experience i got renewed hope, so any feedback or advice is greatly appreciated.

I don't think this is classified as a lucid experience so i'm posting this in the general discussion. But please feel free to move it if needed.
