      Finding REM Time

Hello, I have taken a recent leave fom the forums because I was stationed overseas and since I am back I have decided to try and master WILD/CAN-WILD. As you may know in order to WILD effectively it is recommended that you figure out your REM time. I was browsing the Internet and found a free website where you enter the time you will go to bed and it will recommend you 4-5 different times to get up. I figured that after attaining these times you can subtract 20 minutes to estimate when your REM time is. I am not saying that this will work for everyone but I figured that if it at least helps one person than it would be worth posting.

      The link to the website:

Are you a real marine ? Cool.

You can finetune the info from the gadget with this tip: our sleep cycle is about 90-110 min long. In first cycle, NREM is about 80 min long and REM about 10 (assuming it's 90 min total). As we sleep, the NREM gets shorter and REM longer, untill if you sleep for about 8-9 hours, the cycle is almost all REM.

I'm pretty sure you already knew this, I just wanted to say Hi to a Marine. Happy dreams

      Hey man, welcome back!
Personally, I like to use the water drinking method. Drinking half a glass or one glass of water, immediately prior to sleep will cause you to wake up after a REM period. From then one, you can attempt to calculate how long your REM cycles are. I've been drinking water prior to sleep for almost a year now and even on nights I don't drink water, I started to wake up naturally from just habit.
The urge of having to go to the loo can also make you more dedicated to your WBTB rather than rolling over

I use a ZEO sleep monitor and at times I just drop into REM either as you would expect in a WILD or sometimes on first going to sleep and after a few hours and back to bed within 5 minutes. There are extended blocks of REM during the night but for me the cycles are not regular

Well I have used this for a few nights or so and with a little tweaking I managed to figure out my best time to WILD is around 4.5 hours after falling asleep.
