SP to actual lucid dream problem

      Hello DV members,

I'm having a problem with my lucid dreaming attempts and I need help. Just a quick background, for my 16 years I've had 3 lucid dreams that I remember and about 30 SP experiences. Recently, I've started WILD techniques and it's been working as I have gotten to the SP stage easily during
      a. Random alarm to wake up me up
      b. Afternoon Nap
      c. Early morning when I'm tired and I have the inspiration to try to WILD (I attribute this success to my lack of trying too hard to get SP).
The problem is when I achieve SP and I can actually feel the shift between reality and the dream state, I have a hard time visualizing a dream background or I wake back up(signaled by the SP wearing off). I'm no slouch when it comes to imagining things as I have a very active imagination but when it comes to the wire, I just can't do it. Is there any way to transition to lucid dreaming from SP for my case? I'm so close to the final stretch and it annoys me that I can't do it.

      Sorry for the long post,
      Wyman

I had the exact same problem I would get SP so much and couldnt figure out how to get lucid from it. Then i figured it out and I've had 4 wilds in the last week. I just lie still with my eyes closed and wait for SP to go away. (vibrations will stop/you will feel like you can move again.) Then I open my eyes and see that I'm lying in bed in my room. Usually I would think I'm awake, and go back to bed. But I try a nose plug reality check and realize I'm dreaming, then my lucid begins. Next time your in SP, relax, keep your eyes closed, and just wait until it goes away. After, you may feel like youve woken up but your really dreaming. Do reality checks to see good luck

Thanks. On my most recent SP, I just waited for the SP to wear off (I was sad because I just love the feeling of trying to move but can't-don't ask lol), opened my eyes and then I was in my bed BUT there was this subtle change of how I felt-it's hard to explain but it wasn't unpleaseant. This is when I'm not sure if I woke back up as I neglected to do my reality checks (*facepalm* >.<)
      1. Opened my eyes, felt it being weird, and laid in bed.
      2. Excited because of the change and thinking I have achieved WBTB WILD in just 5 minutes, I looked at the clock and it read a normal time so that's when I was like "dang my dream didn't fool me. I must be awake".
      3. Closed my eyes briefly, then opened them again and started walking around my house but didn't notice anything different. I started to feel the walls and everything felt solid and actually real so this only reinforced my belief I wasn't dreaming.
      4. Deemed this WILD a failure and walked back to bed and closed my eyes. Dreamt a little and then woke up.
I'm super pissed because it sounds like that was a false awakening by your experience and I waste one of my easier WILD opportunities. I'll try your technique because it sounds like something that's easy to do.

My other time was on a couch when i was sleeping with my dog. Went through SP, let it wear off because I didn't care to have a WILD at that moment and realized my dog wasn't there. Thought he just jumped off and closed my eyes again. Turns out he was in my hands still and I actually entered the dream state and has a false awakening. $&^%

haha ya I can't even count how many times I had a false awakening and was dreaming, but didnt know it. You seem to be pretty close though, I really recommend the nose plug RC if you've never tried it. Plug your nose with your hand and try to breathe in through it, If you can breathe your dreaming. And its really hard to tell when your dreaming without RC's because everything looks and feels so much like real life its insane. You'll definitely get the hang of it soon, your pretty much there. Happy dreams

Well, If this helps, A few days ago I had a perfect wbtb wild. Within 2 minutes, of just not thinking about anything, I told myself a few times I was going to enter a lucid dream and to remember that, then I just layed there, The next thing I knew, I was instantly in my dream back on my bed staring at the wall, now there was mirrors everywhere and I knew I was in the dream. The biggest problem with knowing your in sleep paralysis and wanting to get into a lucid is you shouldn't even know your in sleep paralysis, You should be trying to get to sleep as soon as possible and ignoring any sp or hypnogogia if you do happen to experiance them.
