If you're unsure whether or not you were in sleep paralysis, it wasn't sleep paralysis. All things you described happen in NREM sleep, and as soon as you enter REM you'll experience sleep paralysis (to me, it feels like my whole body vibrates). Then, you'll transition into a dream or just snap out of the paralysis.
Try WBTB, as you said (before you switch sleeping schedules). I don't know much about polyphasic sleeping, but since it's possible to WILD during naps as well, it shouldn't be a problem. It's likely that you're going to have DILDs too, so SAT will work wonders (I practise SAT right now). And why not try MILDing, too?
By the way, I saw your post in another thread (about hallucinations during SP). I just wanted to tell you that you don't need to worry. Hallucinations aren't real (of course), so they can't harm you. Also, all people don't see scary things when they WILD. I've never done that, and I don't think I ever will.
