I count down from 99 to 0. It's worked quite well for me..past couple of days I've been getting into SP and probably I'll be getting WILDs soon. You just need an anchor to keep you awake. Everyone is different, but you don't want something that'll keep you awake so that you never fall asleep. Try counting like I do, I usually breathe in, then when I breathe out, I count down. It's ok if you don't slip into a dream after you hit 0, just start over again. If that doesn't work for you, there's always visualizing your dream scene, or repeating mantras like "I'm lucid dreaming" or "Mind awake, Body asleep". Personally the mantras don't work for me because you really don't have to think while doing them, so I usually just dozed off. Hope this helps.
