One morning, I was attempting to do the WILD technique. I did not reach sleep paralysis, but I noticed that my eyes were blinking although they were closed. (Note: Not reverse blinking).
Was this a sign that I was close to sleep paralysis?
Yes very close. My first wild was initiated like that.
Remain calm and wait for the dream to form. Or you could try and visualize a dreamscape if you would like. :)
Not everyone gets SP. The eye blinking is enough. :)
In my opinion awIting that one should experience sleep paralysis before entering dream is simply one expectation too much. Let me make one excourse into dream itself. If you are within dream, you are in your dream body immersed in dream environment. Somehow to get yourself into your dream body you have to "forget" that you have your real body, you have to shift your attention from your real body into your dream body.
Everyone strives for sleep paralysis experience before dream itself. But what is sleep paralysis experience? You are in your bed not feeling your real body, but you are concentrated on your body not being there. Your focus is still on your real body, now experiencing that You dont feel it. But still in your bed, not in dreamworld. Only when you realize that from the beginning waiting for your body to go numb is unnecessary, only, when you realize that the only thing that matters is shifting your attention from your body away, you may be catapulted into a dream.
Forget about your body in bed, become your dream body.
Its eighter sleep paralysis experienc, or dream experience at one point in time and space. which one would you prefer?
1. Relax a little.
2. Wait for some fantasies, pictures to emerge.
3. Begin trying to associate with the fantasies. Dont do it aggresively, gently try to associate yourself with pictures
4. When picture collapses dont hold onto it and wait for other to form
5. Repeat
Tips.
1. Dont concentrate too much, just remain yourself that you are aware. The key is to fall asleep while still remaining yourself.
2. Your dream body is just another vehicle for your consciousness. The key is to align yourself with this vehicle.
3. Falling asleep is nothing magical. Your dream body is nothing magical. The only thing which is different is that you are aware. If your mind wants to wander, you have to wander with it, if the dream generation is chaotic, you have to accept it and go with the flow. If you accept the natural flow of falling asleep, there is only one thing to do. Remain. Aware.
Read the tutorial from billybob called How to wild.
Might help you understand, that when performing wild there is not much to do other than remaining aware.
Thanks a a lot for those tips; I really appreciate them.
There is one problem though. I have read billybob's tutorial on WILD. I have noticed that he said to have an anchor. You said that I am let my mind drift, but if I let this happen (forgetting my anchor), I will suddenly remember the anchor, then get a sudden "mini-shock" of awareness, and it feels like I have lost the feeling of drifting off, and now I am fully conscious. It is as if my mind is saying that it can only focus on one or the other at a time; that is, drifting off or the anchor, and not both at the same time.
