      Sleep Paralysis

So last night I'm pretty sure I reached SP for the first time. Going to bed first thing, I listened to Theta from i-Doser. Through about the first 15 minutes my body went numb as usual, and I continued relaxing with passive awareness. Approximately 18 minutes in, instantly, a wave of pure relaxation covered my entire body, my heart started to race for the first time (I had read about this but never experienced it), I felt as if I were spinning, and my eye twitches kicked in, but I tried my best to keep them shut. This lasted for about 20 seconds then just went away completely. I reality checked and was still awake.

Did I get over-excited? Was it supposed to end that quicky? Is there anything else I'm supposed to do besides keep relaxing?

I read somewhere on DV that once you enter SP, you either enter the dream directly or you just stay awake. Also I tried WBTB the same night and didnt get any results, and I found this strange because I got more results before bed than WBTB.

Any tips, advice, or corrections of what I'm doing would be greatly appreciated

You might have been close to SP, or even reached SP, so don't give up. SP is different for everybody. If you want to see if you're in SP try slowly moving your hand or something, this might work. I've only gotten sleep paralysis a couple times and when I do I have hallucinated that I could not breathe and ended up freaking out and it released me. When I was in SP I couldn't move at all. It was a strange feeling. One time I thought there was something on my chest keeping me from breathing and I was grasping to push it off but there was nothing I could do until it stopped and I broke from paralysis.

To me it does sound like the onset of SP. But then I've never successfully made it to SP from WILDing, so I can't tell you for sure.

Do you want to experience SP, or nice WILD?

SP experience is a Wake initiated lucid dream in which your dream body is tightly linked to your real body, your dream body is paralysed and the dream scene closely resembles your bedroom. At the same time you cannot move and every scary thought is materialized.

If you are in fact in sleep paralysis you are in dream. Dream with pretty unfortunate entry. I would suggest, you forget about achieving sleep paralysis, because after rem kicks in, your dream body will have hard time freeing itself from generated bed prison. I would suggest to eighter go with fantasies and do your best to remind yourself that you are aware, or construct your own dream body in scene to your liking. Both much better and easier ways how to enter dream world.

I've had 3 successful WILDs in the last 2 months, and they all had the same symptoms/signals of SP. It's a very very distinct feeling. When it hits you, you *know* it's SP. Because it's not anything else. It's unlike anything you've ever felt before, like your entire body is cast in concrete. You are aware of your body parts, but you can't move them. It's like the command from your brain is completely ignored by the body part. But the feeling is so distinct, you can't mistake it for anything else.

Basically, if I'm not sure, it's not SP. If I have to ask, it's not SP.
