A new discovery
Hi:) like some of you already know, I've been trying to WILD a while now, with some results. What I've recently discovered that I didn't knew before, is (I know many of you more experienced WILDers already know this, but I'll say it anyway:)) that the point with WILD isn't to stay awake as long as you can and wait until your body falls asleep, because that's impossible (should have known this before...). The point is that you have to make your mind soo relaxed that you almost fall asleep, but not completely.
In all my WILD/CAN-WILD attempts I've focused to keep myself as awake as possible, as long as I didn't move, it was okay. This was a mistake, at least for me, because this made my body refuse to sleep. to this point, I've counted breaths, and I don't think it works for me, but at the same time, I really need an anchor to keep myself from going unconscious. White noise doesn't help, but I'm sure that it exists more ways to keep yourself conscious, or maybe another version of the breathing technique?
My question is: I need some more and different anchors, so I can find the one that's best for me, or any other tips that can help my problem in any way
PS!! A new question: If you have wilded a lot of times, could you please leave a description or link to DJ that describes exactly what you did/how you felt, just so I can get a picture of WILDing in general? Thanks ! :)

I forgot to say in my last post that you could use autosuggestion. It helps me alot to wake up in the middle of the night and to remember dreams. So it can make you more aware when you wake up. Just repeat several times a mantra in your head (like "I wake up after my dreams" or "I stay still when I wake up") and really believe in that and try to imagine the feeling that, when you wake up, you dont move. Try to do that until you fall asleep (for better results). It may seem that it's not related to your problem but I believe that it will make you more aware of the times you wake up during the night (naturally), making you aware more easier when your alarm beeps.
PS: This can also aid you to do a normal DEILD without the alarm.

Learning to 'catch' is difficult, have you ever jolted awake when falling asleep, if you are really dedicated learn to relax so much and catch, it really is a skill which you can improve on!
Great work though! (Your very similar to me!)

this is what iv noticed as well, whenyou try to focus on any one thing it just seems to keep your mind busy. iv tried counting as well, but when my minds engaged in soem activity it just taeks me further away from falling to sleep. If i start counting back from 100-1 in between while im counting and conversation will begin while im counting. and in the other hand if i completely relax and keep my mind quite next thing i know is i woken up next day not knowing what happened. the only times iv had success is when im completely relaxed and not thinking about anything and just dazing out to the images under my eye lid which out letting thoughts enter in and just wathcing and paying attention, then all of the sudden i hear the buzzing and sgtrange sounds you hear when going through sleep pralysis and from there you can stay there or go into a LD. but keeping the mind quite and focused is the challenge

This is actually very true and this is why in the beginning of my WILD'ing attempts I would always fail. People try to hard to remain aware but they fail to realize that they won't even dream if they can't get their mind and body to relax to the point of sleeping. The anchor is probably the most important part and for me, i still have not come up with a consistent anchor, whenever I successfully WILD, its always due to me letting myself fall asleep as I normally do except that right before the point of transition I am suddenly "jolted awake" like Arch said and usually I don't even remember why or what it was that jolted me awake. I made a post in the WILD section called "shapeshifting into WILD" and I described exactly what I feel before and during transition, you can read that if you like or read one of my DJ's titled "longest WILD to date"
