Thread: Need some tips again

Some time back then I made a thread asking about WILD tips but decided to go with DILD 'till i'd have my first successful lucids. Which I had the last weeks. Since I don't seem to get very far with DILD however I want to put WILD to use, this time seriously. I already integrated lots of guides into my knowledge about WILDing but it seems not to work the usual way.

I can say though that just lying still and waiting for something doesn't work for me, and it's only recommended in a small part of the guides I went through. Essentially I gave up on waiting for SP since it doesn't seem to work like that for me. No vibrations in any state so far either.

So far my most successful attempt was this morning. I used a mantra "My mind stays awake" and repeated it over in my mind while moving like I felt like and relaxing as much as I could. At one point I saw a gate opening before my eyes, darkness lying beyond. I heard some voices talking about this gate. Hypnagogia, I felt myself drifting over into the dream. The problem is my mantra was cancelled and I barely noticed my mind was slipping into unconsciousness so I resumed my mantra and was thrown back into reality.

That was one of 2 times I managed to get my vision to my inner focus. But the problem is always the same I only start to drift over into the dream when my mind and with that my mantra fades, likewise when I resume my mantra I immediatly leave the dream state.

So far I could only think of keeping on with the training since it seems to be the only effective way to do it for me. Anyone uses a similar way to WILD and might be able to share some advice for me?

My first tip: WILDing isn't about lying and waiting (in my opinion, at least). What you're trying to do is go to sleep and stay aware, not stay awake and try to induce a dream-state. How you go about doing this is unique to the individual, but personally I allow myself to drift off to happy places and visualise things until it becomes so vivid I can just ''step into'' the dream.

You've recognised you need to focus on what's inside - that's good. A lot of people don't grasp this concept. What I suggest is to try another form of staying aware as your mantras seem to be failing you.

What sense would you say you're more adept with?

I wonder what sense I should use. Visualisation seems not to work to well for me because I lack the ability to constantly visualize one scene, but I might try that again as well. But what else could I use? Music? Some scent? Focus on feeling something? I need some ideas I think.

Something I used to do was imagine myself jumping on a trampoline. I'd try and focus really hard on soaring really high and then crashing back down, then repeat the process (not just for WILDing, but before going to bed). Sometimes it would get really vivid. Maybe you could try homing in on a particular feel of something? An apple for example. A metal pole. Anything. Whatever you choose, your goal is to try and intensify it until the point where you're focused in enough to take control of the situation and leave the physical world behind.

EDIT: I would recommend practising whatever you choose before you go to bed each night. It will help immensely.

Hm, that sounds like it could work, I didn't thought about something like that yet. Maybe I'll try the trampoline as well since I was once very familiar with these. And it was a lot of fun.
