      Stuck in SP

Hey guys. So, last night I went to bed at about 11:30, woke up at 4:30 (accidentally) and figured it'd be a nice time to try a WILD. All was going well, went into sleep paralysis, but then I just couldn't get into any sort of dream.

At first the problem was that I was thinking too much about my physical body I think. But then even when I started to let my mind wander, it would just be thoughts and no dreams. I tried rolling around twice, got right back into SP and the same thing happened. Once I even tried opening my eyes, since I've done that before to get into a lucid, but my room was just staring back at me.

Eventually, after about 40 mins of this I just fell asleep, which I don't really remember. No lucids though. Any ideas on what went wrong? Thanks.

Did your body feel heavy/pinned down? No hallucinations?

If your answer is no to both, you probably weren't quite in SP yet

      That's not always true, Wilbert.

      Most people feel:
      - Vibrations or Tingling throughout their body
      - Audio and / or visual hallucinations
      - A pressure weighing down on them

While trying to enter SP, it's important that you don't move, keep your eyes shut, and try not to focus on anything. It sounds like even though you were trying to get into a dream, you were still concentrating on your body. I've never manged a WILD so it might be best if someone else explains the transition part.

Yeah, I felt really pinned down, really heavy. I couldn't move my body unless I put some effort into it. I no longer felt itches or anything.

But, I didn't feel any of the other things described by you guys, so my guess it that my body wasn't tired enough to enter sleep paralysis or something.

What keiferr is describing seems to be very common amongst WILD aspirants, including myself. I too get pretty much stuck in SP. I primarily have begun to try out KingYoshi's technique on WILD. I definitely have gotten much farther than I have in the past several months.

What ends up happening is that I would lay on my back after what feels like 20 or so minutes and everything will be going smoothly, breathing is slow and calm. My eyes remain closed. I see green swirls of what I think to be Hypnogogic Hallucinations.

My problem is that although I can begin seeing these things, it feels like I focus on them, but when I let my mind wander, I feel like I have to start over. It certainly is tricky balancing the relaxation and awareness. The few times I became lucid were random and spontaneous after I gave up trying WILD.

      *Update*

I went to bed at about 11 PM after this morning's attempt at around 4-5 AM, I am convinced that it is the SP where I am stuck. I definitely was much more "locked down" and frozen so to speak this time. I knew that is as far I got with my last attempt also.

I did see the swirls, but after a while, it felt like my eyes were opening themselves. I had to close them willingly and that seemed to throw me off track and if my mind wanders, it didn't seem to make any progress.
