Am I on the right track?

So after many many failed attempts at WBTB, i decided to try to obtain lucidity during a nap today, as i've heard its much easier from many sources. I also read a post yesterday about changing your mindset from trying to stay aware while falling asleep to falling asleep while remaining conscious, and not consciously trying to identify sleep paralysis, so i figured i'd try that out as well.

So as i feel my body fall off to sleep, i kind of imagine existing in another dimension, on a plane that is different from my physical body. As i feel my limbs get heavier and heavier, im looking at my physical body and imagining it as a ball, and the more and more deep i get into sleep the more my physical body is creating a "repulsive" force-- it keeps pushing me (myself in this imagined dimension) away from my physical body.

Im not really sure where that dimension i imagined was, but i know that I was no longer in my physical body and now existed in this new astral plane. At this point i'm almost 100% positive my physical body is asleep, so this is definitely the farthest i've been in a lucid attempt so far.

So my question is, what do i do next? Im not sure if the world that i was existing in was a dream-- I don't think so though. it seemed to me like the entire dimension was wire frame and everything was see through... like i could touch objects and kind of move around but they had no substance, and this world hardly looked like a dream (no color, no defined objects-- its as if i was wandering around with my eyes closed and could sense these strange objects).

I don't think I ever got any hypnagogic images, but I recall a couple times hearing strange words which were obviously HH. I thought this was kind of strange as I was asleep in bed for about 3 1/2 hours and conscious the whole time... So I guess i messed up somewhere.

Does anyone have any guiding words to push me to the next level? Is letting your mind separate from your physical body and kind of existing in a different dimension what you're supposed to do?

Hello and Welcome to Dream Views!

It sounds to me like you actually succeeded in your WILD attempt and were in a dream. If you were walking around feeling things, you were definitely in a dream state. You created this idea of a different dimension and seemed to have incubated this dream scene without really meaning to. Since it worked for you, I would suggest doing the exact same thing next time with one minor difference. Next time, try to imagine this alternate dimension as a more familiar setting. Like a beach, forest, field, city, or just something that you will be able to really get the dream started.

Now, if you think this may have something to do with Astral Projection, I would suggest making this post in the "Beyond Dreaming" section of the forums. Someone will be able to offer some more insight into that aspect of it. I'm not very familiar with astral projection, so I'm not sure if this dream has anything to do with that or not. Not sure what your beliefs on AP are, but like I said, members in the BD section would be able to help you out in that regard.

Its interesting that I may have succeeded and had no idea haha. Looking back on it now, it does seem much more like a dream than i had originally thought.

So once I feel like I'm no longer in my physical body, I can just visualize the scene? When I was imagining that other "dimension" i was kind of looking at it from above, and then i went in it. Do i do the same thing, just make a scene with color and real objects?

Also, I don't recall having any SP at all. Is it possible to go into a lucid without it?

Yeah, just visualize the other dimension as if it resembled waking life. Just imagine a normal looking scene and you should be ok.

Yeah, not everyone feels heavy effects of SP. You had some HH, but you won't always notice the actual paralysis. Sometimes, you won't noticed much at all. Other times, it will be heavy hallucinations across the board and intense paralysis. It varies from time to time.
