I have yet to succeed, what should I think about changing?
So for about the past 2 weeks, I've been waking up multiple times at night to get in some WILD attempts. I've been going to sleep at 2 AM (been keeping it pretty consistent), and I set my alarm for 6 AM. I stay up for between 5-15 minutes, reset my alarm for 7:30 AM, and attempt to WILD. repeat at 7:30 AM, set my alarm for 9, wake up at 9, and then sometimes set my alarm for about 10:30, or just get up when I get up.
Now for when I actually attempt to WILD, I'll lay down in bed (on my stomach or side, like I'm going to sleep normally), get comfortable, and then start counting breaths. I usually get somewhere between 30 or 200 counts before I just fall asleep. Sometimes I get Hypnogogic imagery, where I'll try to pay attention to it, or I get nothing, where I might try to visualize something on my own. I think this is the point where I'm getting stuck.
When I first started this, I managed to get one lucky DILD that lasted a few seconds, but I couldn't stabilize my dream vision (I tried rubbing my hands and it didn't work), so I woke up. No lucids since then though. I've also been doing frequent reality checks (especially while I'm up before an attempt).
I'm thinking maybe I need to change the times at which I'm waking up and see if that helps. I think I also might need to figure out what to do after counting breaths. I'm not really sure. Any experts out there who can shed some light on what I might be doing wrong?
