Was this a VILD or a WILD? Or both?

A few days ago, I had just woken up from a lucid dream at 6am or so, and I was trying to WILD. After ten minutes, I got too lazy to, so I began to drift off to sleep, when an image of a dresser popped into my head. I held onto the picture and waited, when suddenly all feelings of my real body went away and I was next to the dresser for a moment. Unfortunately, it slipped away and the image was less vivid again. Then, my entire self began tingling intensely and it became vivid again. I slipped into a very enjoyable lucid dream.
      Was this a VILD, a WILD, or a VILD/WILD?

Well, a VILD is actually just a specific type of WILD (VILD falls under the WILD category). It sounds like you had some VILD properties in your technique for sure. Generally, one would think of a scene or "capture" a scene during SP and attempt to enter the dream through that scene. It seems you may have performed this without really even planning to (ahead of time). Either way, congrats on your success and I definitely recommend you keep doing it. The key to lucid dreaming is finding a technique or style that works best for you. This seemed to have given you some very positive results, so I say keep at it ! Congrats and if you have any further questions, don't hesitate to ask!

I tried again last night, but I couldn't get tired enough. Well, I'll try again tonight!
Thanks for clarifying that for me!

Actually, no it isn't. It stands for Visually Incubated Lucid Dream which refers to dream incubation, where you visualize a dream over and over before you fall asleep so you have that dream later. Pedro originally posted the technique on LD4All in 2003. He says that it is not a form of WILD, but a DILD, because in the dream you visualize, you imagine yourself becoming lucid and doing a reality check so when you have the dream later in the night you become lucid. You do not actually transition into a dream like you would for WILDs.

I have never heard of a type of VILD that falls under the DILD format. That is interesting, but I'm pretty sure Eliza is talking about the form of VILD that falls under the WILD category.

True that, KingYoshi. I suppose anything that involves going straight into a dream after SP counts as a WILD. Or a type of it. But it would be interesting to try the Visually Incubated Lucid Dream technique. Maybe then I'll stop being locked in various places at the beginning of an LD.
