I'm not sure what you mean by this. If you don't like the dull pain anchor then there's hundreds of other ones you could try; It's about finding one that works for you. Some people may find pain necessary in order to remain conscious. Other's might use white noise, or some kind of physical sensation such as taping 2 fingers together.
The number of different anchors is endless. Just figure out what kind you want, auditory, physical sensation, scent, etc. From there, think about what would work best for you. It's a really personal matter, reading about what other people do won't help much. It sounds like you already know of the most common anchor types, and if those don't work for you, then create a custom one.
