      Question Sleep Position and WILD's

When learning to WILD (And i still am) i read that people said to do WILD's in your natural sleeping position. I naturally sleep on my side. I feel like when i do a WILD i should be alert and ready to pop up and be in a dream, so i lay on my back with my arms to my side and my legs casually crossed at the bottom of my bed. The first time i tried WILDing i was laying in bed for about 45 minutes i'm guessing, and nothing happened. It almost seemed like hours passed, and when i checked for sleep paralysis, because i didn't know what it felt like, i realized i had just been laying there for nothing because i could move freely. I was crushed. I thought it was because of how i was laying. I haven't successfully WILDed yet, it was only the other night i felt vibrations for the first time, but i find it easier to be in the state of mind of WILDing laying straight on my back, because when i do my natural position i feel like i should be unconscious and sleeping.

So i was wondering, what sleep position fits you best and how did you first experiment with it, or did you experiment at all? Did you already know what position, did the question even come up? Tell me your opinions!

I've WILDed on my back, side, and stomach just depends on whichever feels the most comfortable at the time. You're trying during a WBTB right? If you have trouble falling back asleep then stay awake for a shorter amount of time.

Basically what Yoshi said. WILDING without a WBTB can be very difficult and is nearly impossible. If you can't do a WBTB then do it after a nap.

Sleep in what ever position you feel fits you right. I usually lay on my back until I become relaxed and roll over to my side.

And when you WILD, don't think about it because if you think about WILDING and SP, then you can't fall asleep and if you can't fall asleep then you can't WILD.
Current status: Practicing my WILD method.

The best position is the most comfortable position for you. If you aren't performing your WILD during WBTB, I suggest you try it during day time naps (usually 1-8 hours after waking in the morning for best results). Trying to WILD upon first going to sleep can be very difficult. Your body/mind isn't ready for REM sleep yet and it will make the process THAT much harder. I suggest trying out several different WILD techniques and see which one best suits you. Don't be afraid to alter techniques to suit your comfort level/liking/etc. Everyone's mind is different and certain techniques will work better for different dreamers. Just experiment with it. I have a WILD technique you could give a shot as well...link is in my signature. Well, good luck to you and if you have any further questions, don't hesitate to ask!

What are some of your specifics regarding do you have a job/school? What time to do you wake up and how to you fit in WBTB? Do you take frequent naps? Or what?

I don't have a job, only school. I usually don't purposely perform WBTBs (just because I'm too lazy ). If I happen to wake up during the night though...I try and take advantage of this every time. I also nap pretty frequently. My sleep schedule is nearly always out of whack, so its hard to give you any specific times. If you are performing WBTB, you need to have already entered REM sleep. Usually, the target range is after 4 hours of sleep. You wake up and if you have dreamed...then you are good to go. If you haven't had a dream yet, sleep for another hour and then try. If you ever wake up in the morning earlier than you need to get up...try and attempt a WILD then. I just try and not let an opportune WILD times pass me, but I don't actively seek them. Not to say that is wrong...like I said, I'm just too lazy .

I have to wake up at 7:00AM for school but I try to WILD ever day because I go to bed around 10PM. If you would like to WILD with a WBTB, then I suggest going to sleep earlier than you usually do because you wont be as tired in the morning.

Thanks i think i've made a plan. I am going to go to bed around 9-9:30ish every night, and set an alarm for around 4. (I have to get up at 6 for school) And then try to WILD from there. I tried it yesterday with no luck on lucidity, just more dreams Wish me luck!

Indeed, good luck to you! Even on a failed WILD attempt, the waking up at 4 will enhance your dream recall. Which is always a good thing. Plus, you are refreshing your mind with the idea of lucid dreaming, so this could lead to random DILDs as well!

Been trying to WILD for weeks; WBTB, afternoon naps, normal night.
I've had sort of shivering feelings today as I was WILDing with the WBTB. I'm not sure if those were the vibrations, though I never reached sleep paralysis, ever.

I have only ever felt something similar to vibrations once, and it was at bed time, so i don't even know if it was what i thought it was or not, seeing as i have never succeeded.

When SP first starts/tries to set in, you may get a shivering or light vibrations feel. If SP fully sets in though, it would be pretty hard to mistake. Your body will be paralyzed for one thing . Just keep practicing...once you hit SP a few times you will get a feel for it and it will become easier and easier to get into.

I always thought you needed to sleep on your back. So I can WILD and enter SP while sleeping on my side?

Yeah sure. Any position that you can fall asleep in, you can WILD in. Hell, if you could fall asleep standing up...then you could WILD standing up .

Every Position should be possible. Personally I feel like I am better at keeping my thoughts together and concentrating on the dream, when lying on my back. If I lie on the side, I drift off more likely, but that might be just because I believe in it. So just try it

I have this annoying sensation with WILD Attempts when napping: I concentrate on the images and make them more vivid, try to imagine touching things and emerging into the dream, but every time I am close to stepping into the dreamworld, I can basically feel something pulling back behind my closed eyelids until I start again... Haven't managed to get around this so far...
