Red face WILD with no sleep! :DD

D ok guys I have a looong but very good story to tell!!! Last night i hit a wave of SP with no sleep! I've have looked around and been told you cannot WILD without 3-X hours of sleep. So I'm lazy and busy so i can't take naps before i do the WILD, And I think it is a complete inconvenience to sleep 3- X hours then WILD. So for maybe about 1-2 Months I've been trying to wild without sleep!

Here's my story of what happened!

After working for a day straight on school work (I'm in Highschool) then college work (I had to do because of family problems.) I wen't bed but i have i constant fear of aliens that kept me awake. And I was just laying in my bed for about 7-8 minutes. Then I started to mumble in my head, then i thought if i could try and WILD again so I kept lying down (staying still) for about maybe 5 minutes. Then my head started to get heavy and blurry (Lucky i was still aware) They i had a roll over signal (a tickle, or patting feeling that your body does to see if your awake) Then I strangely passed the roll over signal, Then I hit the first wave of SP. ( I've hit SP many times but I still think i'ts scary.) Once i hit the wave i pulled out because it scared the living 5#17 out of me.

      2nd Wave

After the first wave i couldn't go back to sleep so i drink a glass of Apple Juice then i tried to goto sleep without trying to WILD, But, Unfortunately (Not really a bad thing) I got HI and an very early stage of SP while trying to goto sleep without forcing a WILD.

Sorry if that wasn't alot of detail i've never post alot on DV but i hope to do more and if you guys want to know what i did in full detial just ask me enough and i may even make a tut of what i do to get this WILD! D

Its not true that you cant WILD without first having 3 hours of sleep. It is recommended that with WILD, you try the WBTB method because you go through the stages with much ease and faster speed. But you can do a WILD without getting that much sleep. I have done it before.

Whoops! I put WILD accidentally Its supposed to be SP with no sleep. @elucid i really think that people can WILD without sleep if you can hit SP in it you can do a WILD.

Where the hell did you read it ?

People can WILD without any sleep, I have a friend who can ''easly'' WILD before any sleep, and I have hit SP countless times trying to WILD before sleep (though I seem to never be able to enter a dream, even in naps).

I have decided that waking up to WILD 4-6 hours after I fall asleep is a load of crap, so I now WILD before I go to sleep at all. I'm still trying to enter into the dream phase, but I have managed SP.

Sleep paralysis is attainable at literally any time as long as you're completely still for a certain amount of time. For me, it an be the middle of the day and I can lay down for 40 minutes and instantly hit SP.

WILDing, however, is near impossible without prior sleep. Notice how I said "near" because I've been trying it for months, and the only WILD I have ever been able to pull off was accidental and was after I had already gotten about an hour of sleep. It is quite possible without sleep beforehand as I understand as some people have actually been able to master this technique. If you can WILD without prior sleep, then you must be amazing lucid dreaming xD

So you just got to SP? thats easy... >_>
hm, But yes WILDing is possible without sleep. I did it once on accident before Thats why i can tell you its defintely possible. Normally though, in my experience, i have to have had only like 3 hours of sleep that day and be really tired to WILD without any sleep. I wouldnt suggest trying it though :/ its MUCH easier to just go to sleep first and it saves you all that effort.

Only those who attempt the absurd will achieve the impossible.

I don't take a nap durning the day or it doesn't work because I'm not tired enough. And when I do try to WILD before bed it only takes a few minutes to get into SP.

I'd like to point out that SP isn't the goal. Lol.
I've come really close to getting into a dream attempting WILD without any sleep, but I've only ever had really really good results after sleeping a bit, and most of my LDs come about with DILD.
It's possible to wild without sleep, it just works better.
Think about how your brain works. We go through REM phases, but they get more intense after you've had a certain amount of sleep. Hence you get way better dream quality and it's much easier to enter the dream.
I don't find it such a hassle to wake up. I wake up frequently to pee anyways, so I just use that as my 'alarm' to try WILD. I also attempt WILD at the beginning of the night just because it helps my dream vividness.
And yet I cannot remember the last time I felt the anxiety, the inspiring fear, of impending battle, the tingling that can only come when a challenge must be met. Are we then creatures of action? Do we say that we desire these accepted cliches of comfort when, in fact, it is the challenge and the adventure that truly give us life? -R.A Salvatore, The Legacy

Just because you hit SP doesn't mean you can get to LD. The reason it is so hard without any sleep is because your body skips REM sleep when it enters sleep on the first cycle. LD's happen in REM. It's true that actual SP happens in REM, but the body hits a SP like state when it enters sleep initially (skipping REM).

If you are really tired or well trained you can hit REM sleep without going through a full 90 minute cycle, but the general rule is that you don't have REM until you get back up to it at the end of your first cycle.

After 6 hours you spend much of your time in REM sleep. That is why it is easier after 6 hours.

I would like to point out that I know SP isn't the goal. But I also know that SP means I'm getting really close. I get that you might not be able to LD right when you go to sleep but it's happened to people before. I"m going to bed anyway, so if it doesn't work I just go to sleep. i'll take any chance I can get.

As many other users have stated, just because you can get to SP doesn't mean you can transition into a lucid dream.

And where did you read that you can't wild without prior sleep? Every tutorial I have read on this site says that you can, it's just 10x harder.

I know that it doesn't always mean you can transition, but like I said, I'm trying anyway. How does one know when and when not you can transition? If there's a chance, take it (if it's not going to make you tired the next day). And I didn't say you CAN'T wild without prior sleep, I just said that you might not be able to (because it's harder). What about WILDing isn't hard?

All of my WILD's have been without prior sleep, so it's definitely possible (like others have already noted). The downside is: you are lucky if they last longer than 5 minutes. I know you may think of this as a challenge to overcome, but really it is just a waste of time.

I am by no means an "awesome lucid dreamer," as I cannot even figure out WBTB and do a proper WILD. I would love it if someone experienced would help me out (PM me please). Until then, I will keep attempting WILD's after prior sleep; I suggest you do the same.

I don't really think of it as a challenge, just another opportunity. I have only heard from one other source that without prior sleep WILD's are short, so I didn't know what to think about it. Thanks for clearing that up. I guess there's really no point unless there's some way to prolong the dream. Does anyone know why they don't last?
I haven't been able to WILD with prior sleep either. I go to sleep too fast even if I do wait an hour before going to back to bed. The only way for me is to try while napping I guess.

They do not last because the REM cycles get continuously longer as you sleep, making the first cycle the shortest. I am sure some pro out there can prolong it, but I have not made one last longer than around 5 minutes before randomly waking up.

If you simply cannot learn to WILD after prior sleep, naps are your best bet. They produce longer and more vivid LD's from my experiences. And I am facing the same issue as you with the WBTB method. I understand the first few attempts are a pain, so maybe if we just continue to practice it will become easier.
