transition from what I think is sleep paralysis to dreams

      Hi Guys,
Last night I awoke from sleep about 4 hours after originally going to sleep (I have chronic, intermittent insomnia) and after going to the bathroom, tried to go back to sleep. Not intending to use the WILD technique, after 20 minutes or so I felt my body pulse and then stiffen, and I involuntarily felt my eyes clench very tight. (I also got an erection at this point for no reason whatsoever). Next I felt my eyes appear to move rapidly, but there was nothing for me to look at. Although it felt like what people described as sleep paralysis, I didn't see any visuals and I laid in this state for 10 minutes or so. Eventually, with some difficulty, I was able to make my body move to adjust positions to try again. A few minutes later, the same exact thing happened -- felt the pulsing sensation, etc, but was unable to enter a dream.

Is it possible that my body was trying to enter sleep paralysis but was unable to complete due to my tensing up or something? I have had a WILD one time, but I don't remember what the transition was like between the "paralysis" and the dream.

I felt like I could have laid in that state all night and wouldn't have gone into a dream -- did I just not wait long enough? Is it possible for sleep paralysis to last a long time, or does that mean I didn't quite make it there?

      THanks,

      frank

Yea last night all i was thinking about was goin into SP after i got up for about 30 min and went back to bed. After only my body getting numb and laying there for an hour. i said fuck it and moved to on my stomach. I just wanted to go to sleep and when i did this I went into SP without thinking about it to. try to relax but keep a little consciousness.

Getting to the stage of SP means you are very close to a dream, if I were to say what your problem was in attaining a lucid dream is that you did not wait long enough.

And next time, dont try to stiffen up by yourself, be as relaxed as you can be.
