Newbie to WILD Results and Questions

Hi my name is Lis and I'm a newbie here, first time post. Sorry in advance about the long post.

I've been lucid countless times in my dreams, every time it is an amazing experience. I wanted to learn how to better the chances of becoming lucid which brought me here. What I found interesting was the WILD technique, I never heard of it until I visited here. I know they said the best results are after waking on 5 or 6 hours of sleep. I just wanted to practice and see what it all was about, so I tried it at bedtime.

These are my results... I have a few questions after...

Tuesday 10/26 : Got nice and comfortable, laid on my back arms to my sides, had my head on a pillow (not to high). I didn't really count or think pay attention to my breathing. I just peered into the blackness. My eyes on occasion would hurt (like when you stare at a computer screen too long) I would try and concentrate on the blackness. I have no idea how long I did this, it felt like 30 mins or so... so around 30 mins I start feeling funny. My couldn't feel my body and I began to see these weird colors, like the colors of a bubble shifting in and out and sometimes like a tunnel. The pain in my eyes vanished and they my eyes felt like they were zipping back and forth. At time when I felt myself drifting I would see an object, I saw a lady with a purse plain as day surrounded by darkness, as soon as I thought about it she disappeared and I would get this wave light and dizziness/rollercoaster/fuzzy feeling and would go back to black and I would see the bubble colors again. I would see another object and BAM I would know I was about to dream and go back to the colors again. I guess for some reason I couldn't get to the next phase. I grew restless and gave up looked at the clock and seen a hour had passed. Went to sleep, it was harder to go to sleep because I kept focusing on it. lol

Wednesday 10/27 : Prepared the same way. I was sleepier this time. I would say 15 minutes into laying there, I began to feel numbness in my arms and legs. I would guess 5 minutes later I began to feel a sinking feeling. I wasn't seeing colors, just blackness. I felt awake or aware. So I tried to relax my thought more. I imagined myself running through the woods endlessly. I start to count slowly as I am running and around the 40s I began to have problems breathing. I felt as if something was crushing me. I kept my eyes shut and continued to count slowly, but the feeling never passes and at times it was if I couldn't control my own breathing. I couldn't feel my arms or legs just a feeling of being pushed down on my chest. I felt wide awake still so I decided to look at the clock, it had been about 25 minutes. Curiously I went to move my arms I could barely move them and when they began to move it felt heavy and at times would give out and plop down.

This is the weird part... I lay back down...
I would say the feeling hit me quicker this time within 5 to 10 minutes. My body went numb quickly and I began to see this pinkish red color swirling in my vision. This time instead of feeling the crushing feeling I had this wave pass over me. It felt like a tingling floating sensation, the tingling went away and I couldn't feel my body. I felt like I was floating in nothing. Then I started to feel strange. I felt as if I was a needle spinning slowly in a horizontal circle from head to feet, clockwise. At times it would slightly speed up and slow down. All the while I only seen red colors in my vision, my eyes were moving like crazy. I would say that lasted for 5 to 6 minutes. The spinning stopped but I didn't really notice it. I tried to relax nothing much happened after that I would see tunneling and purple colors and nothing more. I went to sleep.

Ok my question is, how do you get into the dream, When I am keeping my mind focused I tend to see only colors and tunneling.
So I allow my mind to wander to see if it helps when I lose focus for a brief moment the objects tend to appear and when I catch it it vanishes. So should I stay focused and will I in keeping focus begin to see objects and full dreamscapes? What is the technique? What should I do? am I even close? How do I know what SP feels like? was it the crushing breathless feeling I had or was it the floating spinning feeling? So many questions again, sorry about the long post.

yes, its very tough, and takes lots of practice, Im still new at it so Im not much help but Ill say just stick with it and be motivated, stay relaxed. I count if im really tired and say "1, I lucid dream 2, I lucid dream 3, I lucid dream, 4....." and eventually I feel disconnected and boom Im just in a dream.

yeah I'm just trying to figure out what the SP feels like and how to relax enough to get a dream started without zonking out. I haven't really tried the counting repeating something. I will try that...

You cannot complete a WILD without sleep beforehand, it just doesn't work that way. You can't skip a couple sleep stages just because you feel like it. I know it's difficult to haul yourself out of bed in the middle of the night but it's the only way to go straight to REM.

However, you can try naps, but if you're awake for too long (>6 hours) your sleep cycle may reset.

This is almost exactly where I am right now.

I really don't think there is anything you can do other than continuing to practice. I just made my tenth or so WILD attempt, and I think you just get more and more in the hang of it as you keep trying. Each time I've gotten just a little bit further.

This morning I was at the point of feeling like being rotated around a needle, like you described, and seeing flashes of schemes and imagery. Good luck I'll be trying right there with you haha.
