most are proprietary
(playstation, wii, etc.)
linux has been ported to most of them, but this thing is designed specifically

this is designed for game developers
Open source software - probably open hardware as well (although I'm guessing here)

Oh, for some reason I thought I remembered that the Playstation 3 was Yellow Dog Linux.

To me the timing seems a little off. OpenGL 3 and OpenCL doesn't come out for another few months, I hope that the graphics card inside of it is ready for it when it comes out. That dynamic pipeline will be very important for next-gen gaming.

I've never heard of Crystal Space Engine It looks up to par though.

Can't wait to see it in action. Hopefully it will bring the overall price of gaming down for everyone.
