      Playing DVD's on PC

      When I got my PC I was playing DVD's on it regularly using a programme called Power DVD. I uninstalled the programme to free up some space, assuming I would still be able to play DVD's on Win Media Player. The DVD's now play without sound, and some programmes won't play them at all. How do I fix this problem??

      reinstall the dvd software

      alternatively, VLC has inbuilt DVD decryption

      The obvious choice would be to reinstall PowerDVD.

      If you're determined to get it to play in WMP, check the audio settings - I seem to remember using some program that would play DVDs without sound by default, but by going to the audio settings and changing it to "audio track 2" or something like that, the audio would come on. This may have been WMP.

      I couldn't reinstall Power DVD because I don't have the CD key. The VLC programme works though, so thanks to both of you for the help!

      Aye, VLC kicks arse. I've been using Windows Media Center lately, for some reason. I like the controls better. But being free, and quite low on resource usage, VLC truly rocks.
