      Question Medion Driver Help

As some of you may know, My Windows partition corrupted, and I had to search for a new installation disk as I did not get one with my laptop. So I've finally got one, but it's a Windows XP SP2 Home Edition (The one I wanted) From Medion. Now my question is, As it installs the drivers run in Medion computers and laptops, Is there a chance that the drivers needed for my laptop (Compaq) Will not be installed through the Medion CD, thus truly fucking up my laptop?

This is sort of the disk http://uk.expo.live.com/ViewListing.aspx?lId=5831271

      Help please!

using a restore disk from another laptop manufacturer...
you're going to have a nightmare job sorting out the registry (that's if it even boots properly)

So I guess that's a big no then?
I have a backup of the registry from quite a while ago, that should be OK to restore from right?

I also have a few Ubuntu disks if everything goes wrong, And can go back to Ubuntu

If you backup up the registry with the drivers and such that you had and then install a version of Windows with different (Medion) drivers then restore the backup you're going to have major problems.

Windows does have some of its own drivers that will probably run your Compaq hardware. You can boot with those drivers and then download the correct ones later, but it's a big risk.

So if I do take the risk. And It fucks up, is there still the danger of my laptop not working, even with my Ubuntu installation disks?
