Were you dual booting or parallel booting?
Dual - one at a time
Parallel - simultaneously
If you were parallel booting and just one of them died it can prevent both of them from booting.
The only other thing that I can think of, besides the BIOS is that your boot sector became corrupt. Here's what I would do: Find a Linux Live CD on the internet on your good computer and try to boot the other computer with that. If that boots then you can check out the hard drives and see what is going on, if it doesn't boot then your motherboard is shot.
