Thread: Website Hunt

Hi,

I am trying to find this webpage I made for my ruby a long time ago. Unfortunately, I forget my password to geocities and the address for the page. How can I find it..?

I know that it is located somewhere in this folder:
http://www.geocities.com/mk_onus/leanne/

However, I can not remember the name of the page.html. It is not index, I at least know that.

Can anyone help..?

Wow..

That google thing really makes me want to delete the whole site.. it defeats the purpose of hiding and deceiving visitors.

It is not really closed - it is just a filter to make sure those people that do not really give a crap about the site will go away. Those that are truly interested would put the effort into seeing the blue dot and click on it. Although.. I have not worked on that site for about 3 years.. so, in a way, it is truly closed.

There are sub folders and the google thing did not pick up any of them. How do you get it to? I know the page I am looking for is in a sub-folder. I was sure it was leanne, possibly "l" or "lll" some manipulation of 'leanne' anyway.

Google sees everything unless you tell it not to using the robots.txt file within your directories. It will read it first and disregard whatever directories or files you do not wish it to index.

Otherwise though, it's a rough balance between finding what you're looking for and remembering your password. Either way, if it's been 3 years since you've worked on it, you may very well have forgotten that you moved, renamed or deleted that "leanne" directory entirely.
