Thread: What the HECK happened?!

Today I went to get blood drawn. I was feeling fine when she was drawing my blood. Seeing blood doesn't make me queasy. A few seconds after I stood up things began gradually getting darker in my vision until I had to sit down.

According to my mom (I don't remember any of this) I got a blank stare on my face and became unresponsive. My eyes rolled up in my head and my body became stiff and I started to shake violently for a few seconds.

During this entire time, I had a nightmare. It was beyond horrifying. In my dream, it felt like I was being sucked into a black hole. It felt like I was moving faster than the speed of light through the galaxy and my soul was being ripped apart into shreds. I screamed in horror. It felt like I was being exercised/possessed.

I woke up to doctors gathered around me. I was confused and asked myself if this was a dream and where the heck was I. I felt really clamy, like I had been sweating bullets.

I dry heaved a few times until they sent me home, when I managed to vomit all over the garage until I fell asleep because the whole thing tired me out so much.

Is this normal lol?

Sounds to me like you passed out. I've never had it happen and I've donated blood 8 times, but it's a common thing to have happen if that is indeed what happened. Nothing to worry about, drink lots of water, get plenty to eat and plenty of rest, and during/after giving blood, move slowly - slower than you think is necessary - to prevent dizziness or any other side effects.

It's the loss of blood to your head or something. I've had this and yeah do what ^ Said... It's just kind of like your body is low on blood from donating but it will go away after time...

Yeah I passed out pretty hard there. What really disturbed me was the awful nightmare that I was still shaking from when I woke up. Thanks for the replies, I'm feeling a lot better now.

Sorry to hear this. Eat lots of protein, and sugars like fruit juices. Have some lemonade with a little sea salt in it in order to rebalance your electrolytes. Sea salt, not synthesized table salt. You need minerals.

Man that's some experience I hope your okay now. Usually when I get blood taken I am fine but I do feel a little weird after, nothing close to this. That is just insane but yeah stay healthy and feed what your body needs!

I passed out from giving blood one time, I remember dreaming when this happened but I have no recollection of the dream.
Also, gatorate (g2, powerade, whatever...) has electrolytes too!

I have passed out many times lol and yeah it goes black feel like your blind! I fainted when I had my tattoo done (I know wimp!) and in that time I dreamt I was drowning so I was kicking my legs and that tattooist said to me am I on any kind of drugs needless to say I haven't had a tattoo since!!
