I'm considering going biphasic, with a main six hour sleep from midnight to six AM, and a one hour nap from 4:30 to 5:30 PM every weekday, monophasic on weekends. Could this work? I'm 14.

I certainly don't see why it couldn't, assuming it doesn't get in the way of any personal things. Like, homework, etc.
Why would your age matte? You still basically get the same amount of sleep.
Isn't a one-hour nap a little long for it?
Also check out my experiences with Everyman-2.
Since it's biphasic, the "nap" tends to be longer than the 20-30 minute naps used in Everyman and Uberman (and Dymaxion).Quote:

Sounds like it would work, although I'd recommend a longer nap, say 90 minutes, due to the way the phases of sleep work. That'd be one complete sleep cycle. If you went for an hour, you might wake up from the middle of the sleep cycle feeling groggy. (As far as the shorter naps go, they're mainly REM sleep with the other stages of sleep compressed; anything over about 40 minutes and you go into the regular sleep stages. 20 minutes seems to be the ideal for the shorter naps whereas increments of 90-110 minutes is good for longer periods of sleep).Quote:

I haven't tried biphasic, but I hear it's easy to adjust to. Like Noogah said, age shouldn't matter since you're still getting about the same amount of sleep as you would on monophasic. In fact, you'll probably feel better rested because you're not staying awake as long between periods of sleep. Many cultures take a siesta nap in the evening, so it's not that uncommon.
Actually, I normally get 8 hours of sleep. This schedule is only seven.
Like what has been stated, I don't see why this wouldn't work. While I'm not into this sleep schedule stuff, I have been sleeping around 6hr and then having a nap after work so I guess I've been following a biphasic schedule :P
