We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

Spoiler for Goals:
I know it does't paralyze your eyes and respiratory/circulatory systems, and the essentials. Maybe it doesnt paralyze your mouth/larynx/pharynx, etc.. cause it could interfere with breathing? |
|
If I am correct. Sleep paralysis is a mechanism that prevents the person from acting out their dreams so they won't hurt themselves. |
|
Sleep Paralysis only occurs during REM sleep. |

Actually sleep walking does not occur during REM sleep, it is not acting out your dreams or SP failure. Sleep walking occurs during a separate phase of sleep. |
|
Sleepwalking is an "arousal" disorder. It occurs when a person is in a mixed state of awareness, i.e., both asleep and awake. Researchers believe sleepwalking stems from a temporary sleep mechanism malfunction that occurs during the deeper stages of sleep. Because sleepwalking does not occur during REM sleep, a sleepwalker is not acting out a dream. |
