Thread: How Insomnia enhanced my DreamRecall ALOT

This is much like the CAT-technique, only more extreme and I found this out incidentally.

Every winter my biorythm is completely confused due to the lack of daylight. So I spend nights awake, not being able to sleep. This winter's Insomnia started a couple of months ago and about 1,5 weeks ago I decided to turn the tide and sleep early again for a change.

For months I had become used to sleeping at daytime(allthough usually not very long) and waking all through the night. And suddenly I decided to turn the tide and live at daytime again. I took my doctor prescribed sleepmedication one night to fall asleep early. I awoke briefly about 4 times that night and remembered my dreams very clearly; I haven't remembered a second of my dreams for well over a year. I found this suprpising since my Sleep medication usually whipes out any dreamrecall. Also I've been smoking as much hash that night and the folowwing nights as I usualy do and it didn't at all diminish my DreamRecall.

Now since then about 1,5 week has passed and all days I have been having the most remarkable dreamrecall every night from then.

I suppose this has to do alot with the fact I've been used to a wakefull consciousness at nightime for months and then suddenly shifting my biorythm back to "sleep at night-time, wake at day-time" again.

So this is perhaps very helpfull to my fellow insomniacs & nightowls: If you're used to waking through the night for a long period of time ( serveral months ) then suddenly going to sleep early and you're likely to experience a significant enhancement of your DreamRecall. This way temporary episodes of Insomnia can actually work in favor of Dream Recall when you sleep early again.
