      Exploding head syndrome.

Hey guys, I have been reading a lot of threads lately after being away for a long while - experiencing information overload like every time i return... lot's of subjects racking my brain at the moment.

Anyways, I stumbled across the term for an experience i regularly got a few months ago (when i was stressed out and quite depressed to be quite honest - thankfully, i am a lot happier nowadays).
exploding head syndrome, according to wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exploding_head_syndrome)!
wikipedia, which as you probably know by now; isn't known for its accuracy all of the time - but this sounds legit to me...

"Note that exploding head syndrome does not involve the head actually exploding."

      pretty interesting i thought.

i have it too, like a bang or gunshot noise waking me up instantly, so annoying when you have insomnia and this at the same time

Some of that information sounds slightly unreliable (such as use of the term 'exploding head syndrome'), though I have expirienced some things similar to this as a symtom of hypnogogia.

Well, I have had experiences of both, and EHS is in it's own league. They are certainly two very different things I believe.
