I know of some cases in which sleeping too much may make you tired when you are awake.
I don't know if drinking coffee could be appropriate for you, but I found that it greatly helps to prevent me from falling asleep in class, drinking a glass of sugar water also helps.
I am saying this from personal experience, I wake up at 5:45 AM and school is from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, I don't own a car, so I return to my house walking, when I arrive to my house, I do my homework and then I spend the rest of the day in front of a computer, I always end up sleeping at 12:30 AM or later (yeah, I only sleep like 5 hours a day).
