      4x30

Has anyone (besides Buckminster Fuller) been noted to have succeeded with the Dymaxion sleep schedule? In terms of nap lengths and numbers, it looks like the most convenient schedule to take on. Now, whether or not it works is completely different...

Hey foolnthehill, Welcome to the forums!

I had never heard of Dymaxion before but did a quick search and its interesting. I'm guessing you are trying to adapt to this sleep pattern (judging by the stuff under your name). It seems like a good way to get the most time out of life. With 22 hours a day I could really boost my post count (had to mention that because of that huge thread about post counts). The main problem with it would be school or work interfering. I hope some other people can comment more. I sleep the normal 10 hours a night or less than 8 with school. I don't know if I could get by with just 2 hours of sleep a day. BTW Bucky Balls Rule!

I don't have any experience with Dymaxion, but if you're interested in an adaptable schedule, this worked for me:

      - Midday Nap (23 mins)
      - 6pm - After Work/School Nap (23 mins)
      - 10pm nap (flexible, can be left out sometimes) (23 mins)
      - 3am-6am core (3 hours)

Another alternative that I know some other people prefer, but has me struggling during the night, is to nap from 11pm to 2am:

      - Midday Nap (23 mins)
      - 6pm - After Work/School Nap (23 mins)
      - 11pm -2am core (3 hours)
      - 6am nap (23 mins)

Is four hours a night really enough sleep?

Yes. 2 hours is enough on uberman, if you do it carefully
The record is about 50 years of 2 hours a day, by the famous rabbi 'The Vilna Gaon'.
      Also purely naps.

You can't compare monophasic sleep to polyphasic - they're just totally different in how they work
You naturally can't survive on 2 hours of monophasic sleep, but hardcore uberman works just fine (albeit by some careful lifestyle changes)

I did uberman for a month, and felt great. Only family responsibilities broke the routine.

DISCLAIMER: Just because I and the Vilna Gaon can manage uberman, doesn't mean it doesn't have an unknown, negative long term effect on most people. YMMV

Where is it legitimately documented that he pulled it off for 50 years?
