I will now sleep for a very long period and see if something happens. Well instead of the normal ten hour I will sleep for 15-18 hour a day note for all you genius out their their is 24 hours in a day. So I will only be awake for 9-6 hours a day. I am aiming at 18 hours of sleep, however this will seem impossible because I would naturally wake up so theirfore every hour I will nap for 20minautes or 30 minautes and goto bed at 10oclock. I will start this on easter, however I will begin to do it properly on monday.
I will do various tricks to sleep like meditation, muscle relaxation technique, breathing fast, self hypnosis, forgetting body e.t.c. Since I will be well rested I hope this increase lds. I would go on, but I will stop. I will post tommorow with a update. Now with this technique I am looking at controlling the abillities to fall asleep so I will always be able to lucid dream. As a added bonus I will try and control HI and bring HI from the dream world into real life, which I don't know yet how I am going to do this.

I have the week off from school so I will only do this for two days. I will try another technique as my friend says its a nightmare trying to sleep for ages and he said he is getting terribal headaches. This would seem like a bad idea as his eyes where red all day.

Sounds like a good experiment to me. Keep us posted as to how it is going.

Thing to keep in mind is that with all the sleeping we do in our lives, *why not* experiment a little. Seems like that's the whole point of this forum.

You don't eat the same meal, every day, 365 days of the year, or spend your weekends in the same boring place every week. Why should sleeping be any different? As long as you have someone watching out for you I say go for it!

That's my feeling too. As long as someone is watching for psychotic or damaging effects, go for it (at your own risk of course)
I reckon that you'll just struggle to fall asleep after a while.
And don't think of using 'knock out' pills - they will destroy the point of the experiment. They don't produce normal sleep.

HOWEVER.. if you are struggling to fall asleep, you could make yourself drowsy with melatonin (Natural pills you can get from your pharmacy. No known side effects or overdose symptoms, aside from extended drowsiness)
I have no idea what your body would do with a constant melatonin increase... do your own research and make your own decisions

I'm no sure if I should post this question here..but since it was mentioned here I thought y not?

On weekends that I don't have much to do I LOVE sleeping in..I usually will go to sleep the night before at like 2 am and sleep until about 5pm the next day. ( When I really don't have naything to do )

But I have found that I get severe headaches the longer I sleep?

      Anyone know why?
Dreaming permits each and every one of us to be quietly and safely insane every night of our lives.

sounds like an interesting experiment, keep us posted.
i have never really tried somthing like that i dunno if it will really work with just 2 days, but you never know.
Gurrlly007 maybe the sun begin up of a day might have some kind of an effect while you sleep cause naturally your body should be at the awake stage of a day and asleep of a night, well thats how most people live there life anyways.
      But i'm not sure i am only a painter:p

When I was in the army I was once in a some guarding task at some communication facility. Just a small building sorounded by a fence and antenas, I was supposed to stay there for 10 days. There was nothing to do, I didn't have anything to read, so I think I slept about 15 hours a day at least. I also ate very little, as the food in there was very dull ( just bread, choklat pastry, and eggs ). I am sure that eating less, causes you to sleep more. It's a bit like a hybernation thing, your body does not have enough calories and nutrients, so it slows down the metabolism by making you stay for a long time in deep sleep.
In any case, that was a long time ago, and I don't remember if there was anything interesting in my dreams.

Yeah though for real, it isn't even healthy to sleep that long.

I sleep that long since I am usually awake for 1 1/2 days - 2 days before I fall asleep so this is pretty regular for me. You can say to much sleep is bad but you spend the majority of your life sleeping anyways.

I noticed the longer you sleep the more dreams you have period. And the more dreams you have the higher the chance of having a lucid dream is so they go hand and hand and since you are sleeping for longer the REM period is also longer so yes. From my experience you will dream a lot more than you would with the average amount of sleep.

The good thing is that after about 12 hours or after 8 you will probably wake up what does this mean? You can do the whole WBTB WILD thing over and over and over for the next several hours ^_^

I have done your experiment before. Last summer for almost a month i was suffering from bad allergys so i started on generic benedryl. i was only awake seven hours a day. it got easier and easier. after the first week i decided to make the best of it and started taking magnesium, a B complex, calcium and melatonin. This was in addition to my hops pillow.

i had no idea what was going on i was confused and was how you say blurring the line between dreams and reality. (dont know there is a special term for it)
