There have been reports of REM while "awake," and from what I've heard its because of being very sleep deprived. But Im unsure. |

Sometimes when I'm really tired, at school or wherever, my eyes will go through Rapid Eye Movements. and I can't control it. I'm trying to stay awake, cuz if I fall asleep my History teacher will be all pissed off and shit. But it looks really weird if you look at me when it happens. Is this REM, or is it just me being seriously sleep deprived? What can I do about it, even if i do get enough sleep and it happens? |

This happened to me one time when I stayed up for 36 hours straight. My eyes started rolling around in my head and my legs almost gave out on me 3 or 4 times. This continued to happen until I sat down and took like a 4 hour nap. Then it was all fixed. |

Are you dreaming, Truff? ARE YOU?!
(For reality checks)
This has nothing to do with REM, if you're tired you don't go into REM and if you're awake then you're talking about micro sleep. Microsleep is a Non-REM problem. Eye jerking is a normal sleep deprivation symptom. |

yes i've had a lot of drifting into microsleep esepcially on the bus home from school, and sometimes i almost slip into a pseudo dream... that is i start to have images and thoughts and get confused about where i really am or what's relaly going on but nevera full blown dream with senses |

I do remember in history class more than once I was SO tired that I literally could not force myself to stay awake. I would feel my eyelids falling and if I would make an effort to keep them open, my vision could get blurred and my eyes would move all around. |

OK, there is only ONE thing i can conclude from this thread and my own personal experiences. |
