I know that there has been a few post before regarding Narcolepsy, but they are generally 4-6 years old, so I hope its okay with a new threat.

I would like to hear from people with narcolepsy, how they handle themselves throughout the daily life, how the condition is interfering with life in general. And possible success they have made, in using the condition to cultivate a second life - here meaning lucid dreaming of course.

First abit about myself. Throughout the last 9-10 years I have had quite some episodes with excessive sleeping in school, daily life, and been tired all the time. Also have had seizures of different kinds. About 7 years ago, I was diagnosed with epilepsy due to seizure activity such as; Out of Body Experience, Grand Mal and absence.

However, due to my striving nature to get to the bottom of the truth of all, I doubted the conclusion of my condition.. And have been tossed around the system for 5 years, where ive been diagnosed with Epilepsy 3 times, and psychogenic seizure condition ones.. Also been diagnosed with narcolepsy, got my meds and they really helped me out.. However doctor thought that due to the fact I dident have full muscle collapse and my EEG was not as expected. I was removed from meds and put into other medical checkups where they now think I suffer from sleep apnea.

However using the tools for the condition has not really helped me at all.. To this date. I still fall asleep in school - nodding off. This can be only a few times.. but sometimes I sleep for ½ of my waking day in school.. Which of course leaves me in a state, where its hard to follow studies. Should be noted also that I havent had Grand Mals for some years now.. Absence is hard to tell if I have or not.. But OBE is still present.

During my "nod offs" I experience rapid onset of REM state, where I sometimes hallucinate or simply have quite vivid dreams. Can wake up and fall directly into another dream state a few seconds after.. I get really tired due to this, and it seems like a spiral without end.

As of now, I havent been on any drug in 3 years now. By keeping tight sleeping schedules and living healthy, I can manage my sleep somewhat. But I am always tired and extremely wasted throughout the day, and keeping awake in school is quite a battle.

Can any of you with narcolepsy relate to these symptoms, and what do you do to help yourself controlling this situation?
